This is a public service announcement to let you know that I, Chyaz, have found the ultimate Autumn coat. No, this is not a drill! The story behind this coat involves a fab bit of luck too, those two little words that make every fashion purchase that much sweeter…half price.
There are also some other gorgeous pieces in this outfit, and most of them are still available too. Read on for the links to where you can find most things I wore for this post, and decide whether you agree that this is the BEST coat of Autumn/Winter 2018…
Zebra Coat: Mango via ASOS
White Boots: Nasty Gal
Faux Leather Skirt: H&M
White Tee: Boohoo (similar)
This is how the story goes. I was walking around the shops and spotted this coat at a Mango concessions stand – I think I actually saw it from across the room, and I literally galloped across to it. It was like a siren to my animal print-obsessed mind! I had been looking for a great Autumn coat, something warm but not stuffy, and something that had a bit of style to it. I lived in my warm but kind of clunky parka last A/W, and I’m determined not to repeat that this year.
Now, my birthday is in December and my lovely mum (who is very organised with these things) asked me the other day if there’s anything I’d like as a gift. I remembered the coat and mentioned it to her, saying that it was perfect for Autumn – my mum’s so fab (and loves clothes as much as me, if not more!) that she said it was fine for me to have the gift early and make the most of wearing it whilst the weather’s perfect for it. Winner!
Here’s where the story gets even better! I’d tried the coat on in store and knew my size, and intended to head back there to pick it up in person. However, just out of interest I clicked onto ASOS to see if they had it in stock, as they do have some fabulous Mango pieces on their regularly. To my immense surprise and delight it was not only on the site, but it was HALF BLOODY PRICE in the sale! You can’t beat a bargain, especially when it looks this good – it was meant to be!
I popped to Knutsford yesterday to do some photography, and my lovely dad met me for lunch and took these snaps of my outfit. If you’ve never been to this gorgeous little town, you must pay it a visit if you’re in the North West – it’s about half an hour from Manchester on a good run, and close to lots of other beauts places in Cheshire.
Let’s have a chat about the other elements in this look. We all know I’m a huge fan of monochrome, and this outfit is peak monochrome right?! I love that the zebra print helps to keep the look from being boring, and these AMAZING Nasty Gal white boots completely finish it off for me. I absolutely love the Nasty Gal product names, and these boots have a cracking moniker – Since U Been Cone. Because of the cone shaped heels. That are cones. Get it?!
They’re actually really comfy, which is a bit of a theme of the outfit. The Mango coat is not only the perfect balance between warm and light for Autumn, but it’s really comfortable at the same time. It sits really well and is absolutely worth the original price tag in my opinion, let alone the half price one! This look also features my current favourite skirt, a faux leather number from H&M. I also opted for the same white tee from my last post, which I can’t get enough of at the moment!
I also recently rediscovered this knuckle duster necklace I’ve had since I was literally 14. I bought it from Afflecks Palace in Manchester’s Northern Quarter (if you were a goth/punk/emo teenager like me who grew up in the North West, Afflecks would have been your second home! I still love it now!) and since I found it again I haven’t stopped wearing it. I even wore it with my red carpet outfit to the Northern Blog Awards! If you love something, you love it…even 13 years later (gulp!).
Just a quick note whilst we’re here – if you’re enjoying my blog, I would be so grateful if you’d took a look at my Instagram page! After a bit of a blanket silence on there after I broke my wrist, I’m completely back at it and really enjoying posting. My goal for a long time has been to reach 10,000 followers and any help you could give me in the form of a follow would be massively appreciated!
What do you think of what I’m calling the BEST coat of Autumn/Winter 2018?!
