It’s that super awkward time of year: it’s technically still summer, but it most definitely feels like autumn has arrived. On Saturday we took my camera out into town for the first time in months (thanks to my wrist break and surgery…more on that in a video soon!) and snapped the outfit that’s become somewhat of a uniform for me right now. It’s completely representative of the kind of pieces I’ve been picking out of my wardrobe, giving off some subtle summer vibes whilst making sure I’m not going to be totally bloody freezing.
Interestingly, only one element of the outfit is ‘new in’, and even then we’re taking a few months old. I’m really enjoying revisiting some of my favourite older wardrobe staples, and in that spirit I’m actually going to chat a bit about each one in this post. Let’s start with…
This faux leather Topshop jacket has been in my life for about 5 years now, and I’m betting quite a few of you own/owned it too! It was a SUPER popular piece at the time and I still occasionally see people rocking it around Manchester. It fits me perfectly and is mega versatile – I think I’ve worn it with every outfit you could imagine. Leather jackets are my late summer/autumn go-to and I’m hoping to invest in a new one over the next few weeks too!
I see some themes developing here…this zebra print dress may be completely on trend right now, but it’s actually as old as my jacket (AND originally from Topshop!). It’s been sitting in my wardrobe for a while, and until I pulled it out on Saturday I don’t think I’d worn it for well over a year. I actually really love it, and whilst midi dresses aren’t usually my thing they are absolutely spot on for this weird weather. Luckily, with animal prints having a well-deserved moment, there are lots of similar dresses knocking about at the minute.
I spotted these trainers from Boohoo a few months ago (pre-wrist break and unscheduled blogging hiatus…) and am really excited to actually be wearing them out and about now. Silver trainers were made to be worn with faux leather and a bold, printed dress, and these are pretty comfy too. I’m eternally obsessed with metallic footwear and love that they’re kind of chunky, plus the camo is a fun touch – they’re the kind of trainers I would have loved to wear in the 90s.
What’s your favourite outfit combo right now? I’m on the look out for new ideas, as the weather still doesn’t seem to be committing itself to any particular season!
