I have something Pretty Special to share with you today…
I am a huge fan of the classic biker jacket. It’s the ultimate piece of rock n roll clothing, yet is unbelievably versatile. You can pair a biker jacket with a floral dress, band tee and ripped jeans or white lace number and still totally rock it, which is super appealing to me and my style. When Pretty Special got in touch asking if I’d like to style up one of their jackets, I jumped at the chance – this Manchester-based brand is all about celebrating your individuality, and when I feel badass in what I’m wearing I find that celebration so much easier.
So without further ado, let me introduce you to the Pretty Special Alice Jacket.
I can’t remember a time I didn’t love biker jackets (although I have a sneaking suspicion it was my obsession with Grease 2 as a kid that kicked it off…please don’t judge me!) As soon as I saw the Alice design I fell in love. As you all know I am a huge Alice in Wonderland nerd, and the subtle nods to the classic story really captured me; note the playing card symbols and occasional rose studs.
The attention to detail on this piece is outstanding, and it just screams quality and longevity. Inviting in key clothing items is something I really believe in – taking care of your belongings is just part of my make up, and when you have something so beautiful in your wardrobe you want it to last as long as possible. That’s something else that Pretty Special stand for, and it really drew me to the brand.
This Sunday presented the prefect opportunity to have a wander around the city and take a few photos of this gorgeous jacket, which I paired with this River Island bodysuit and my Topshop Leigh jeans, along with my Pinko bag.
Honestly, I felt awesome in this outfit. When you get dressed and feel good instantly, it can boost your confidence for the entire day – not only does the Pretty Special jacket fit the bill in terms of my dream biker jacket visually, but it feels incredible on too. Despite all of the metal hardware it isn’t overly heavy or bulky, and would be perfect to wear over both a light dress in the summer or a thicker jumper in the winter.
There is something fairly fabulous about wearing such a statement item from an independent brand, especially one based in your home city. I felt like I was wearing a piece of Manchester somehow, and knew I was rocking something truly – well – special!
I have always said that being a Manchester fashion blogger is a pretty cool experience in itself anyway; this city has such a unique history and vibe that you sometimes find yourself embodying it through the way you dress, even without meaning to. This kind of jacket falls into that category for me – wandering around Deansgate, Ancoats and the Northern Quarter, I felt like this Pretty Special piece was made for the journey.
A little style goal of mine for the season it to try and incorporate more bright colour into my wardrobe, which I know seems an odd thing to mention considering that this outfit falls into the all-black-everything category. But part of the fun of fashion for me is being able to mix up your style, and whilst I’m excited to add some bright pops into my daily outfits there’s something really satisfying about putting together a monochrome outfit that just works.
What do you think of the jacket? I’d love to know! I’m thrilled to have this as a key addition to my wardrobe and I’m sure you’ll be seeing it on my Instagram page for a long time to come. On that note, please do feel free to give me a follow over there, and also check out the Pretty Special Instagram page too – their posts are goals, and you’ll find yourself clicking that ‘add to cart’ button before you realise it!
