Don’t you just love it when a plan come together? For a few weeks now I’ve been meaning to chat to you guys about my fitness journey and how I’m currently motivating myself to get back on track…then an email lands in my inbox related to that very same topic! Here’s how I’m getting myself firmly back onboard the fitness train with the help of some handy gadgets from Nokia.
Nokia have teamed up with Connected Health Cities to launch CityMoves – it’s an 8 week step challenge designed to get people in the North moving! It’s running from October 23rd – December 21st and links up with the Nokia Health Mate app. I recently downloaded the app, and it’s brilliant; it not only tracks your steps and encourages you to keep up your activity level, but it pairs with devices like the Activity and Sleep Watch you can see above too. Plus, anonymous data from the challenge is being collected and used to inform heart health research! If you’d like to find out more and join in, there’s lots more information on the Nokia website.
Hearing about the challenge really resonated with me, as getting moving is a huge priority for me right now too! The wedding countdown is officially on, and I’m really focussing on my health and fitness to make sure I feel my best on the big day. I’m not on a huge crash diet or anything crazy like that, but I know I feel peak ‘me’ when I’m on top of my exercise regime.
I’ve spoken before about how I don’t always like to weight myself, and by and large that’s still true. However, I do like to check in on my progress from time to time, which is why I was super excited when Nokia kindly sent me these Body Composition Scales. I’m way more interested in the other numbers aside from just the stones and pounds, and know I’ll enjoy seeing my fitness progress marked out in cool graphs on the Health Mate app.
So, how am I getting back on top of my fitness regime? It’s simple really – I’m just remembering how good it makes me feel. Sometime the hardest thing is finding motivation to actually put your workout clothes on, or even to get outside for a walk when the weather is cold, but that feeling you get once it’s done is like nothing else. The rewards come naturally once you start, even though it sometimes doesn’t feel easy. Who wouldn’t want to have more energy, flowing endorphins and that post-exercise glow?!
How are you doing with your health and fitness goals right now? I’d love to know! Let me know whether you’re taking part in the CityMoves project too, it would be great to hear how you’re getting on.
