Review: Illamasqua Precision Gel Liner

Illamasqua Precision Gel Liner review

Fellow beauty fans will know how AMAZING it feels to find a holy grail product. We try out so many formulations, swatch so many shades and, inevitably, regret so many purchases that finding that one awesome product does feel like a pretty well-earned reward. I am excited to say that I’ve found my holy grail gel eyeliner, in the form of the Illamasqua Precision Gel Liner!

Illamasqua kindly sent me a bundle of cruelty free and vegan products, which I chatted about in detail in a post last week. This liner was amongst them, and having had mixed experiences with gel eyeliners I was somewhat reserved when trying it out. I am not naturally talented when it comes to liner application – my flicks end up as nondescript blobs and my liner art attempts as awkward smudges – but I’m also not one to give up. I grabbed my skinny liner brush and opened up the pot!

The formulation looks SO DAMN PERFECT that I didn’t want to dip my brush into it. This photo belongs on one of those Buzzfeed lists about strangely satisfying smooth objects (look at these pancakes. My god.). I got to work creating my usual slim lines close to the lash line on my upper lids, and from the second I began I knew I was on to a winner. Even my brush in the pot felt like I was dipping it into velvet, and the application to the lid was so smooth I actually said “woah!” out loud!

I had got so tired of pulling my eyelid and dragging my product along it to achieve anything resembling a smooth, clean line. With this Illamasqua gemĀ it took no time at all. It is so easy to work with, and the colour payoff is INTENSE to say the least. it is blacker than black and it doesn’t fade whatsoever throughout the day. I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to find this!

As you can see the shade is in Infinity, which I like to think refers to the fact it doesn’t budge, fade, flake or smudge. I am excited about eyeliner all over again as I feel I could actually learn to create those more intricate looks now – I have the perfect liner, I just need the ideal brush and a few new techniques up my sleeve. I will be practising more for sure!

Have you tried the Illamasqua Precision Gel Liner out yet? I’d love to know what you think too!
