Review: Barry M Nail Paint Corrector Pen

Barry M Nail Paint Corrector Pen review

Have you ever spotted a product and wanted to shout, “why has this not been in my life until now?!”. I’m not talking about finding a new shade of blush or lipstick, but something totally ingenious and a potential game-changer. That’s now I felt today when I picked up the Barry M Nail Paint Corrector Pen! I am notoriously terrible at doing my nails; there are always smudges and dodgy edges, but that could soon be a thing of the past…

The pen was £4.99, which didn’t seem much to pay for vastly improved manicures. When you consider how my nail polishes I own (um, a lot) it seems silly that I’d pass up an opportunity to help me really make the most of those products. I don’t know why I can’t quite ever get my nails right – perhaps because my brain is always thinking of the next thing I have to do and not focussing on something that seems quite trivial, i.e. painting my nails. The result is usually a huge mess.

The pen also comes with two replacement nibs, which is a brilliant idea. It’s melon-scented, which was a nice change from the headache-inducing smell of nail polish remover, and I was super impressed with the clever shape and design of the tip – it’s all curved and fancy, meaning it can really reach the places you’d want to tidy up your nails. I found it was most helpful under the end of the nail, round the sides and near to the cuticles.

I painted my nails with this gorgeous Barry M Teal Nail Paint, and tidied them up with the pen between coats. I also sprayed them with my ‘quick dry’ spritz afterwards, which is why my fingers look a bit shiny!

Considering how much of a total state my nails usually look after painting them, I was so happy with the outcome. I really think this little gem is going to change the way I do my nails, and might even encourage me to use some of the bolder shades in my collection – I always think it’s real pain trying to touch up stronger colours, but that’s not something I need to worry about anymore!

What do you think of this clever little beauty accessory?

My Glowing Foundation Routine

My Glowing Foundation Routine

Over on my YouTube channel today, I posted a video all about my glowing foundation routine – it’s a tutorial about the products I use to get that gorgeous glow, and a flawless finish to my complexion. It’s not so much a dewy look as one that’s really bright and highlighted, which is the finish I love to go for.

I’d already popped on my eye make up before filming the video, as I wanted to really focus on the skin and not the eyes or lips. As you can see in the image above I added a lipstick after the tutorial was done, purely for selfie purposes. Is that sad? It is a little…

Here are the items I used in the tutorial:

Simple Kind To Skin+ Illuminating Radiance Cream

Smashbox Photo Finish Light Primer

Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm

Natural Collection Green Concealer

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light

Natural Collection Concealer

Smashbox Halo Highlighter

Sleek Face Contour Kit

Smashbox Brow Tech Trio

As you can see in the video I am just getting over a cold, so I wanted to make sure I concealed the redness around my nose and cheeks. There’s nothing more disruptive to make up than having streaming eyes and congestion, but I think the look was light enough so I didn’t have too much of an issue. I really enjoyed getting highlighter-happy, and am looking forward to using the Smashbox Halo wand in my regular routine a little more – I tend to concentrate on the contour side of things, but there’s so much to be achieved by adding an extra glow to the high points of your complexion.

I’d love to know what you all think of the look! If you’re not subscribed to my YouTube channel, please feel free to check it out and sign up for free.

Review: Barry M Speedy Eat My Dust Nail Paint

Barry M Speedy Eat My Dust Nail Paint review

Remember the days when I used to post 5,000 nail polish reviews a month? Ok, slight exaggeration (only slightly though…) but I really missed trying out new nail products and telling you all about them. I have heard so much about the new Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Paints and picked one up on a recent shopping trip – this is the gorgeous duck egg blue, Eat My Dust.

Having a quick drying time is one of my must-haves when it comes to nail polish, so the whole idea of the Speedy line really appealed to me. I have so many Barry M polishes in super bright colours, so I wanted to go for something a bit more subtle and pastel toned (I know, I know, I used to hate pastels, but I’ve really come around to the idea of them lately!).

I applied a base coat and three coats of Eat My Dust. I could have used two and been happy with the results, but I wanted to give the colour chance to really shine, so I popped on an extra coat for good measure. I left a top coat out of the mix as I like to see how a nail polish holds up on its own, and I have to say that I am impressed. Incredibly impressed.

A whole week after applying the Barry M Speedy polish and my nails were still in good shape. They went a good four days with almost no chipping at all, and a week in some of the nails were still perfect. Not only did the product dry in excellent time (I hardly had to wait at all in-between coats) but it’s lasting power was exceptional. I am also utterly in love with the new brush Barry M used for these polishes, and I really hope it’s a permanent addition to their Nail Paints range.

I think it’s pretty clear that Eat My Dust has totally and utterly won me over! Have you tried any of the other Barry M Speedy shades? If you have any recommendations, please let me know – I won’t need much convincing to purchase another shade from the line!

Outfit: Oasis #LovedByMollie

Oasis Mollie King Clothing #LovedByMollie

Over the years, more of you than I could count have said you’d like to see the occasional sophisticated look from me (amongst all of the unicorns and sparkles) and today, your wish is my command. This stunning outfit comes courtesy of Oasis, who kindly sent me two of the key pieces from their brand new #LovedByMollie range, starring the beautiful Mollie King from The Saturdays!

Top: Rain Drop Shirt

Culottes: Tailored D-Ring Culottes

The range launched online yesterday, and is now available in all Oasis stores, so I though it was the perfect time to show you how I styled these two pieces! I’ve been a long-time fan of this style of blouse, but sometimes struggled to find what to pair them with – being self-employed, I don’t have all that many fancy business meetings to go to, so I have to make them work in more casual looks. That’s actually something I loved about this outfit – it could easily be ideal for the office or a swish occasion, but matched with the right shoes and accessories it could be kind of chilled out too.

I haven’t worn culottes since…well, I don’t think I’ve ever worn culottes. Until now! I was so pleasantly surprised at how they fit, looked and worked within the outfit – the D-ring tie around the waist was just perfect, and made the whole look super flattering.

I’m super stoked to be on the homepage of the Oasis website too (did you spot me?) – they’ve used a bonus photo not included in this post, so feel free to head on over there to take a look. I know this is a pretty different style for me, so I’d love to know what you think!

Don’t forget to check out the rest of the #LovedByMollie collection too – there are some truly gorgeous pieces in there!

How To Make Your Style More Colourful

You may remember my post from a couple of weeks ago, where I talked openly about my style rut and how it was getting me down. So many of you left me amazing comments and tips, and one that kept cropping up was to start adding little pops of colour into my outfits. It’s a piece of advice that I really ran with, and I can safely say that since getting a little more colourful with my clothing, I’ve been that little bit more cheerful and much happier in my style. You guys really are the best!

So here are some of my own tips on how to make your style more colourful, and add in those bright, happy pops of vibrance to your everyday look.

1. Start With The Little Things

Bryt Clothing Pink Polka Dot Socks

If you’re not used to wearing super bold, bright shades, why not start with the smaller garments and work your way up? It’s a really great way of easing yourself into a more colourful style. I love the attitude of new clothing brand Bryt, who are all about making people smile by using awesome colours and super fun patterns in their designs, including these adorable pink polka dot socks! They think a dash of colour may just be enough to bring some joy to your day, and I have to agree with them. Nothing seems so bad when you’re dancing around in bright pink socks, right?

2. Don’t Worry About What Others Think

Unicorn Inspired Make Up Tutorial

Love it? Rock it! Whether we’re talking clothing or make up (I loved the million shades of pink and purple I used in this Unicorn make up tutorial) don’t worry so much about what other people think. At the end of the day, the better you feel about yourself the more confident you will appear – that’s the true mark of someone who is happy and bright in themselves. So if you want to add a splash of neon into your outfit, and love how it looks in the mirror, do it! If you try out your new super bold lipstick and feel like a total hottie, wear it out! We’re our own worst critics, so stop beating yourself up and do what feels right for you.

3. Try A New Shade

Bryt Clothing Bright Green Socks

If you’ve got it in your head that a particular colour doesn’t suit you, why not put that theory to the test? You might just find that you’re totally head over heels for a shade that you’d usually never look twice at! These neon green socks from Bryt would not normally be my first colour choice, but after seeing how fun they look in action I’d love to try them out! Their motto is to make only super bright garments, which means there’s no hiding from colour – perfect for me and my new style outlook! Don’t be afraid to stray out of your comfort zone and try something new…you might end up loving your colourful items as much as your neutrals!

How do you like to add a little extra colour into your outfits and style?
