When MUA cosmetics were kind enough to offer to send me a few products to review, I was secretly hoping that my little package would include some of their new Professional eyeshadow palettes…and I was in luck! They sent me both the Pretty Pastels palette and the gorgeous Starry Night one. In this post I’m going to be talking about Pretty Pastels.
I’m not the world’s biggest fan of pastel eyeshadows (or pastels in general!) but wanted to give this palette a fair try – after all, there’s no fun in just sticking to one thing!
One of the first things I have to mention about this product is the price: it retails for just £4.00 for 12 shadows – that’s around £0.33 per eyeshadow! There are few good palettes around that can boast that kind of value for money.
One of the first things I thought about the palette was the variety of shades; there’s a mixture of neutrals, warm and cooler colours which is quite unusual for a single palette. In the packaging, the shades actually look quite matte, but…
As you can see, the colours are super, super shimmery! I have mixed feeling about shimmery eyeshadows – for me, if they have shimmer the base colour has to be really strong, which isn’t the case here.
Nevertheless, whilst the shadows are not particularly my cup of tea, the palette would work very well for someone who wanted a very affordable collection of soft, shimmery shadows. I have to say that they blended very nicely and I didn’t find them chalky. I guess it is a case of “it’s better to try something and it not work out than never bother trying”. This would make a great palette for someone, just not me unfortunately!
I’m very excited to try out Starry Night – don’t forget to subscribe to my blog to keep up to date with all the latest posts!
