I mentioned in my latest YouTube video that I was going to a photoshoot, prompting many a question about what exactly I was getting up to! I’m so excited to share a few of the photos with you in this post.
My boyfriend’s dad is a fantastic photographer and he wanted to take some dark, gothic, fantasy-style photos for his online portfolio. I was more than happy to lend a hand, and after making myself up into a creepy-looking china doll/Georgian lady/Marie Antoinette, I was ready to strike a pose or two (or 200!) – feel free to click on any of the photos to view them larger!
I had the most amazing fun, not only doing the make up (which involved lots of black, pink, glitter and crazy false lashes!) but observing the photography side of things. All the little tips and tricks which combine to make an awesome picture is really fascinating, and I feel like I learned a thing or two!
Here is a quick run-down of how I achieved the look. I started with GOSH’s X-Ceptional Wear Foundation in Porcelain as a base. I then went in with some black eyeshadow on my lid and blended it into my crease. I used a pink to create an awesome glow around the entire edge of the black. I added some purple glitter at the very edges of the eyes which was gorgeously dramatic in the photos. I used a black MAC Liquid Eyeliner to create the heart and the outline of the pursed lips, and used the Sleek Lipstick in Mystic to fill in the shapes. I used some black eyeshadow to dramatically define my cheekbones – VERY dramatically!
Thank you so much to Mark for taking the photos – if you want to check out some more of his work, visit his Flickr HERE.
