It’s been a little while since I reviewed any of the products kindly given to me by Caroline Frazer, so today seems like a good day to talk about one of them: the Max Factor Silk Gloss in Crystal Dew 355.
I’ve never tried one of the Silk Glosses before, and I tend to favour netural glosses with a little shimmer, so this seemed ideal! The product claims to provide a ‘high-beam shine and lip balm feel’ – did it live up to those claims?
Before I answer that question, I’ll chat about the applicator – the included brush is the typical doe foot applicator, which isn’t my favourite texture but does the job well. It it fairly normal for a product within this price range to have that type of applicator. For the record, the Silk Gloss retails at around £4.
So, back to the look of the products! Here is a photo of my lips with one coat of the gloss:
The ‘high-beam’ shine is undoubtedly there – it is a natural shimmer which I really like, and isn’t overpowering and ‘wet-looking’. In terms of having the feel of a lip balm, I have to disagree – whilst it does feel slightly more moisturising than some glosses, it still has the trademark sticky feel (although much less than some). Saying that, it is by no means unpleasant – it is one of the more comfortable glosses I’ve worn.
Overall I’m happy that I picked this up from Caroline – and once again, I’m very grateful!
