I really like pink lipstick, but I LOVE a good matte pink lipstick. When I met with MAC Cosmetics a couple of weeks ago they kindly offered to send me some goodies, and who was I to refuse? One of those items is the brand new Flamboyish lipstick from the Nutcracker Sweet collection. It’s a beautiful hot pink shade encased in this beautiful fuchsia and mulberry packaging. Let’s take a closer look!
Described on the website as a hot matte pink (I couldn’t agree more!) the shade is reminiscent of my ultimate favourite lipstick of all time, MAC’s Show Orchid, but with a delightfully on-trend finish.
I have terribly dry lips at the best of times, but in the winter they’re a nightmare. I was a little worried about applying a matte lipstick (especially as I’m recovering from various seasonal ailments) but I’m pleased to say it went on like a dream. Although the finish looks wonderfully matte, the product doesn’t feel even the slightest bit dry on my lips. I’ve actually had to check a couple of times in the mirror to see whether it’s too good to be true – a matte lipstick that feels like satin? Guys and gals, I’ve found it!
I know this time of year lends itself well to those deeper berry and wine shades, but to go for something so bright and whimsical actually felt like a breath of fresh air. At £17, Flamboyish is an excellent investment as it’s so wearable all year round. As you’ll be able to see in the photo at the bottom of this post, I believe it goes particularly beautifully with a faux fur fluffy coat (leopard print optional, although let’s be fair, it’s pretty fabulous)!
I actually applied it without a lipliner, and with the colour payoff being so rich I didn’t miss having one whatsoever. The classic bullet shape of the lipstick holder, plus the sharp point of the product itself, make it easy to follow your natural lip line for that flawless finish. I also just wanted to note the design of the tube too – the top, pink part is gorgeously glossy whilst the deep purple of the bottom is matte. I feel it represents the collection brilliantly, as there’s a good mixture of textures and finishes within the line. I dare you to visit the website and not want to put something from Nutcracker Sweet into your basket immediately!
