The folks over at Bonprix recently got in touch with a fun style challenge for myself and a couple of other bloggers. With summer just around the corner (although you wouldn’t know it with the freezing weather here in Manchester today!) they asked us to pick an outfit from their site with the theme of High Summer in mind. When I think of summer style I often picture the kind of outfits I like to wear on summer evenings, to head out for cocktails with friends. That’s why I chose the items featured here!
This utility-style Wrap Shirt Dress is super lightweight whilst keeping its structure – it’s bright and breezy enough for those warm evenings but keeps you covered enough to protect against any summer night chills. I paired it with a plain white cami underneath – this was just to keep everything in place as I tend to be rushing around somewhere most of the time, although you could easily style it without and wear a lower cut bra!
My favourite details of the dress are the pockets – they’re super roomy and really add some flair to this neutral staple piece.
Shoe-wise we all know I’m a fan of heels, but I’ve never owned any like these Bonprix Single Strap Sandals. I’ve noticed similar styles on my favourite fashion blogs lately and thought they’d match perfectly with the dress – I love the finished effect! For summer they’d be ideal for wearing on an evening out as they’re not too high, making them pretty comfortable. The ankle strap also means your feet aren’t slipping and sliding all over the show too!
I also popped some nude sunglasses on my head to tie the outfit together – I’m rarely seen without sunnies during the summer months, even when it’s chilly! You can never be too prepared, hey?
The sun actually did pop out for the photo above! I was all poised and ready to put my glasses on…but it went in again. Good old Manchester weather!
So, what do you think of this outfit? It’s very different to my usual style but I don’t think it can ever be a bad thing to brand out a little and try something different! I will definitely be styling up each of these pieces within different outfits very soon, and I can tell the dress will be somewhat of a summer essential for me!
