December is here, meaning many of your favourite YouTubers are taking part in Vlogmas! This usually means that they’ll post a video each day up until December 24th (Christmas Eve) but it can take a few different forms. I am doing Vlogmas myself on my second/vlog channel, and uploaded the first video yesterday (please feel free to click on the video below, and don’t forget to subscribe!). Let me explain more below…
What Is Vlogmas?
As I mentioned, it’s a way of bringing regular, Christmassy content to your YouTube subscribers throughout December! The videos you post can either be ‘follow me around’ type vlogs, where you show your viewers what you’ve been up to on a particular day, or more traditional sit-down videos in line with your channel theme, but with a bit of a festive edge! For example, if you have a baking channel, you might choose to take part in Vlogmas by filming an Xmas recipe for each of the 24 days.
How To Do Vlogmas
Firstly, think about the style of videos you enjoy making (and watching!), and where you want to put them. I choose to put my vlog-style videos on a second channel (ChyazVlogs) as opposed to my main Chyaz channel. This is because I wanted to do the ‘follow me around’ style videos for Vlogmas! But many people choose to focus on their main channel, which is a great alternative.
Next, make sure you plan some ideas out. I work from home, and know that not every day of my month is exciting and one where I’m out and about. That’s why I’ve come up with a few ideas for sit-down vlogs that I’ll post on those downtime days. It makes the pressure of Vlogmas and daily vlogging less intense and guarantees that your content will be more interesting for your viewers, which is what it’s all about at the end of the day!
Going into Vlogmas, I’m intending to post my videos each evening, but there might be times when I just can’t get it live until the next day. And that’s OK! Just try to let your viewers know either on social media or in your previous videos that you’re in for a busy evening and it might be tricky.
What do you think of my first Vlogmas video? If you have any ideas or requests for my remaining videos please do let me know!
