In my latest Haul video, I promised that I would do a blog post showing you how the MAC Whirl Lip Pencil and MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick look on my fair, pale skin and blonde hair. Not actually on my hair, of course, but with it. You know what I mean…
So today I wanted to do a bit of an in-depth post, showing you both of the MAC favourites individually on my complexion, and then together too. I know they’re quite a duo, and incidentally one that I’d highly recommend pairing together, so thought that element would be helpful! The above photo is me with totally bare lips, ready for my little experiment.
Let’s start with Whirl!
MAC Whirl Lipliner
I knew that I’d like the MAC Whirl Lip Pencil, but I wasn’t prepared for how much I’d love it! It glides on to the lips like a dream, even though it’s very matte, and I’ve found that it really doesn’t budge. It retails for £12.50 and is totally worth every penny, in my humble opinion. I was a little worried about how it would match with my complexion, as the more brown nude shades don’t always suit me, but there’s enough pink running through Whirl that it actually looks pretty gorgeous on fair skin, and complements blonde hair too.
So, how did it look? Here we go! I was thrilled with the results, and think it works just as well on me as on skin tones darker than mine. What do you think?
MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick
Next came the now-legendary MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick. It retails for £15.50, and was the item I was most dubious about from my mini MAC haul. I have seen it on so many different skin tones and with a whole host of hair colours, but rarely on fair skin with blonde hair. The first time I applied it I was concerned it would look a bit out of place, but as it happened I totally fell in love with its matte-tactic awesomeness!
Here’s how it looked on its own, without Whirl (for now). It’s the kind of lipstick I could happily wear day to day, and I really hope this lipstick style stays on trend for a good while. I can’t believe it took me so long to try it out! I don’t know if I dare say the words Kylie Jenner, but I guess I kind of wanted to let that all die down before giving it a shot.
What do you guys think of the look? I adore it!
MAC Whirl Lipliner & Velvet Teddy Lipstick Together
Of course, I couldn’t write this post without showing you how they look put together. I first apply the Whirl Lip Pencil, and then layer Velvet Teddy over the top. It’s sometimes hard to find a lipliner and lipstick dream team, but I believe I’ve achieved it with these two gems. I think it’s also worth mentioning that I have very dry lips, and as both of these products are very matte I was worried that it would spell disaster for my pout. I am happy to report that they caused no dryness issues for me, and sat perfectly on my lips!
I actually think this look is my favourite out of all of them – I think these two were made to work together (I’m not sure if they actually were, but wouldn’t be surprised to learn I was correct!). When paired with a little nude eyeshadow, eyeliner, mega lashes and nude pencil on the waterlines, I think this may just be my new signature look. I’d love to hear your thoughts too!
Will you be picking up the MAC Whirl Lip Pencil, or Velvet Teddy Lipstick? How do they look with your skin tone or hair shade?
