Exciting beauty news alert! A couple of months ago, Cosmo magazine announced they were to launch their debut fragrance, simply titled Cosmopolitan. Inspired by women’s zest for life, the perfume has been designed to reflect the magazine’s ethos of believing in yourself and living the life you want – two things that I strive for daily! I am thrilled to be able to review the fragrance today, and give you a sneak peek into its gorgeous design and scent.
Before I get into the specifics of the perfume itself, I’ll give my first impression – I usually put fragrances into categories within seconds (floral, vanilla etc) but with Cosmopolitan I couldn’t decide between two distinct camps – sweet and spicy. For me, it was the perfect blend of both. I love sweet scents in the summer and spicier fragrances in the winter, and this was a gorgeously balanced combination of the two.
The frangrance contains top notes of mandarin, bergamot and red berries, with hypnotic jasmine and sweet heliotrope at the heart. Spicy pimento berries, carrot, vanilla, tonka and patchouli form the base, which made total sense when I read it – the ingredients perfectly reflected the sweetness and spice I got from the perfume immediately, and gave me faith in my fragrance-descerning abilities!
Let’s talk about the bottle, because how could we not?! It is STUNNING. There’s an ombre feel to the rectangular cut-glass design, with pink and orange tones mirroring the sweetness and spice you can pick out of the fragrance. It is pure elegance and the attention to detail is gorgeous – here’s a side view of the bottle. Can you spot the C design woven into the glass?
The bottle top has a real art-deco vibe, which I adore. It’s totally unexpected from the minimalist, chic outer packaging, but a really pleasant surprise. I have a real thing for beautiful perfume bottles, as I keep them on display in my bathroom. Any time a guest visits our apartment they comments on my fragrance collection, and I’m going to be more than happy to add this bottle to the display!
Price-wise, Cosmopolitan have gone semi-premium, with bottles ranging from £20-£38. I have to say that I feel the prices are totally justified, as the fragrance is really quite special (plus the bottle…oh, the bottle!). It’s available exclusively at Boots from the 7th September, so be sure to pop the date in your diary – I’ve also heard whispers about two gift sets coming later in the year, which will include shower gel, body lotion and an on-the-go purse spray! I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled…
What do you make of the debut Cosmopolitan frangrance?
