Review: Revlon Bedroom Eyes Powder Liner in Fishnet Jet

I’m going to admit a bit of beauty naivety here – before a couple of hours ago, I had never used a powder liner! Of course, I’ve used eyeshadow as eyeliner, but never in the format of a product like the Revlon Bedroom Eyes Powder Liner:

This was another one of the products that the lovely Caroline Frazer kindly gave to me, and I was really excited to try it out! I’m a big fan of the winged eyeliner look (especially when teamed with red lipstick – gorgeous!) and wanted to try and create the look with this. Unfortunately, I experienced problems from the outset…

Look at that fallout! I look like I’ve just come from playing a role as a chimney sweep in Mary Poppins! Talk about messy…which was a shame as, once the product was actually applied, it looked really quite lovely.

The application itself was also a little tricky – the brush has a foam tip, which is far too thick to apply the liner precisely. On the other hand, it is fantastic for creating the classic cat eye flick, but really not much else.

And again, more cheeky powder falling off left, right and centre! This was the damage it did to my poor Simple Eye Make Up Remover Pad once I’d removed it from various parts of my face:

Ok, Ok, so I know I’ve had a bit of a moan…but I do have to say that the finished result is very nice indeed. It succeeded in creating a bold, sexy eye look, complete with a thick sweep of black powder across the upper lashline and a cute flick at the edge. Was it worth the mess than came along with it? I’m not entirely sure. I can definitely see myself sticking to gel and liquid liners from now on!

Stay Creative,

I really liked the bold look that it created- but honestly, what is the point when you know that your going to get messy, right? But, it’s great that you’re letting us be aware of what products are good and bad- that’s one of the reasons I find your reviews very helpful. Thanks again.

I would never buy this because of the brush, it looks great to apply over Kohl liner to give a smokey look with flicks, but that would be it for me!

I use powder eyeliner all the time. I have a simple trick to keep the powder off your face. And everyone has this. Toilet paper! Just fold a piece of toilet paper in half tight under your eye and the mess is all gone when you take the toilet paper away. Just wash your hands when you’re done. I’ve gotten my make up perfect before. Just to get a giant smear of black powder because I forgot. Opps! haha Sure you go through eyeliner a little faster since a lot comes off on the toilet paper but I love the look it gives 🙂 The one that I use has a stick applicator. The line it makes is precise and is perfect for making cat eyes and fancy little flicks. Though I admit. Gel eyeliner is by far my go to eyeliner.
