Remember my open letter to Primark regarding the reshuffle in the sizing of their once lovely, perfectly fitting and bottom-hugging pants? It certainly caused a bit of a stir – I couldn’t count the number of people leaving me blog, Facebook and Twitter comments agreeing with all their hearts (and derrières). If you’d like the shortened version of our quarrel, it was this: Primark had a wonderful design of knickers (see below!) that were lacy, comfy and gorgeous. Their size 8-10 totally disappeared, leaving only 6-8 and 10-12 either side. This meant that you’d either have to fit into a size 6 (at the lowest) or a 12 (at the highest) to choose either pair, leaving the inbetweener size 9s like me high and dry. I know size 9 isn’t a thing, but you get my drift!
So, for months I have made do with my existing pairs of Primark size 8-10s, which have started to get a bit tired and worn. I’d looked almost everywhere for a good alternative to my old favourites without any luck…until now! Yes ladies, I can confirm that I’ve solved this problem once and for all – no longer will your buns cry out for those holy grail panties that were elusive for so long. The answer to our woes come courtesy of the amazing Boux Avenue!
I’ve been a fan of Boux Avenue from the beginning, but had never spotted these little beauties in the store before. As soon as I saw them, my heart fluttered a little bit – not only are they totally gorgeous, but they’re the perfect alternative to my former favourites! The best bit? The sizes are singular, so I got a size 10 in them and they fit like a glove – no more awkward sizing generalisations! Yay!
The lower pair (the Marsha Pin Spot Shorts) are super similar to my old faves, but the added lace around the leg parts makes them even more wonderful! The top pair (the Lia Lacey Animal Shorts) are more lacy, but fit absolutely amazingly and are possibly even better! I bought these two with another pair on the 3 for 2 deal, making them more expensive than Primark at £12 for 3 pairs, but the quality more than makes up for it. I can’t wait to head back and grab some more!
So there we go, problem solved! I’m glad I got to the bottom of that one…(sorry. I couldn’t resist.)
