Remember my Weight Loss Wednesdays posts I used to write every week without fail? Well, I missed doing a weekly health and fitness post, so have decided to finally start up my Motivation Mondays series. In case you’re new to my blog, here’s the low-down: in the summer of 2012 I decided I wanted to lose the weight I’d put on at the end of university. I have lost 2 stone (28lbs) all in all, and started on a fitness journey that is now a huge part of my life. I work out 5 days per week and try to eat healthily, though that’s where I tend to struggle…
Here is the post I wrote when I reached my goal weight, and here’s another about figuring out what actually motivates you. I hope they’re helpful! But in these Motivation Mondays posts, I’m going to be getting more of a conversation started. What I find difficult isn’t weight loss, but finding the motivation to maintain and keep going forward rather than just coming to a stand still (or, more accurately, putting a few pounds back on).
Over the past month, I have been very lax when it comes to food. I’ve basically been eating whatever I fancy, and though I’m still exercising all the time I don’t look or feel quite how I want to. I haven’t actually weighed myself as I’m a bit nervous, but I’m determined to get back on the wagon and sort my diet out. That’s why these posts will be helpful – what I’m going to do is list three things which will motivate me throughout the week to keep going on my road to health (and looking how I like in my clothes, of course!). So here goes…
Here’s what’s motivating me to stay on track this week:
1. Remembering my progress, and looking back at how far I’ve come. The photo at the top of this blog post is a still from one of the video I filmed with Babyliss back in late 2012 – I almost don’t recognise myself, and it’s amazing how different I look and feel now. The photo next to it is from my latest Outfit post, and to me it shows some of the results of my workouts and healthy eating attempts (I promise I do try most of the time!)
2. Enjoying my newly de-cluttered kitchen area. Over the weekend Tiz and I totally de-cluttered our flat, including the kitchen. I now feel I have loads of room to prepare healthy meals, and proper places to store and easily grab all of the fruits and veggies we’ll be buying in our food shop tonight. I’ve even done some meal plans for the week!
3. Reaching my water-drinking goals. I always find that when I drink plenty of water, I’m less tempted by treat foods and generally feel better throughout the day. No mid-afternoon tired headaches mean less chance of me going out to grab a cinnamon latte or taking that first fatal dip into the biscuit barrel. I aim to drink 3-4 bottles of my 1 litre Water Bobble per day, which is just right for me considering my pretty intense exercise routine!
Let’s get chatting – which three things are motivating you to be healthy this week?
