I have to admit that I’m a bit stuck in my ways when it comes to dry shampoo. I stick to the same brand I always have and don’t ever look for an alternative – isn’t it so easy to get into that routine? However, when this little number was sent to me (possibly in a Glossybox, but don’t quote me on that!) I wanted to give it a whirl. It is the TRESemme Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo!
The product is designed for normal to oily hair, which is probably what I would consider myself to have. It’s strange, because the oiliness of my hair is really unpredictable – one week it will stay looking fresh for ages, and the next it’s looking a bit worse for wear within just a couple of days. So I waited until I had a bit of an oily week to try out this little guy.
When I first sprayed the product, I noticed that it was pretty light with that ‘salon’ smell – it was a bit stronger than what I’m used to, but nothing I couldn’t get over. It wasn’t unpleasant either, just different (which is always the way when you try something totally new!).
Let’s take a look at the before and after shots. In the before photo I’d just finished a workout, and knew my hair needed freshening up pronto! I always think the best judge of a dry shampoo’s effectiveness is how good the roots look afterwards, as they tend to be the oiliest part – plus, as a highlighted blonde they are usually a bit darker than the rest of my hair, especially when oily.
I was super pleased with how it performed – I love that the difference is subtle, yet totally effective. I hate dry shampoos that make your hair feel sticky or caked in product, and this didn’t do either of those things. My roots felt totally refreshed and it didn’t weight my hair down at all – winner!
The TRESemme Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo retails for around £5 for 200ml, which is double the size shown in the photos above.
