The original DKNY Be Delicious Apple perfume is one of my all-time favourites, and a total summer essential of mine. I was so excited when the lovely DKNY PR team sent me one of the brand new Be Delicious offerings to try out – introducing the DKNY Be Delicious City Blossom Empire Apple!
The idea of this limited edition City Blossom perfume is to be a twist on the original. It is still very much an apple fragrance, but there are certain differences between the two which are only to be celebrated, in my book! For a little background – the perfumes are inspired by dreamy rooftop gardens in the hear of New York City, and (in my mind) gorgeous, lazy summer days.
The outer packaging has a limited edition design too, though the shape of the bottle itself is the same as the original. The top notes of the perfume include American Apple Extract and Cucumber, middle notes include Rose and White Muget and the base notes (which match the original) include Sandalwood and White Amber.
As a huge fan of the original, Empire Apple had its work cut out not only to impress me, but to make me see the difference between the two. I’m happy to report that it’s a tick in both boxes! Empire Apple retains the unique apple-ness of the original whilst having a distinctly fresher edge, rather than its sweetness. Don’t get me wrong, it is still beautifully sweet, but whereas the sweetness of the original lingers for a long time this one is much more fresh. I love both of them equally, and would struggle to pick a favourite!
It’s a bit impossible to photograph the bottle without uber-reflections, so my apologies! You do get a bonus upside down panorama of my living room though 😉
The 50ml bottle retails for £37, and I would personally be more than happily pay that. It’s the kind of fragrance that I would wear on the warmest of summer days, when I want to be smelling fresh and crisp – I’d probably opt for the original on the slightly cooler days to perk myself up a little. Nonetheless, they are both stunning products and I was so excited to try it out!
