Review: Michael Kors Gossip Nail Polish

The white nail polish trend is one that I’ve been a bit dubious about – I adore the effect, but am always scared of the dreaded ‘Tip-Ex’ finish. When the lovely Michael Kors kindly sent me their own white nail offering, the shade Gossip, I was excited to see whether I could pull the look off!

I hadn’t tried any Michael Kors beauty products before, so I was going into this a total newbie to the brand. Needless to say, first impressions of Gossip were amazing given the stunning packaging! There is a gold theme across the beauty range, and the nail polish bottle top just gave the product a feel of pure luxury from the outset. It’s also taken from their Sporty line, which is home to one of my current favourite fragrances!

Michael Kors Gossip Nail Polish review

Let me preface my review by saying that my nails are in a pretty uneven condition after I naughtily peeled off a Shellac manicure a month or so ago. I definitely accepted that, given the super light shade of the product, this would cause the finish to look a little wonky. I tried to minimise this by adding a good coat of my clear base to help things along.

The first coat of the polish was very sheer, and I knew it would be a 2-3 coat job. After the second it looked OK but still not wonderful, however the third coat was the charm. It was totally opaque, if a little expectedly uneven, and I was generally happy with the results!

Michael Kors Gossip Nail Polish review

This was actually a really tricky product to review, as white nail polishes are notoriously tricky to create! I think given the limitations of the shade in general, and the state of my nails, Gossip did a pretty good job. It retails for around £13.50, placing it firmly in the higher end of the nail polish market – I’m really excited to try out another of the shades I was sent, as it will be a great comparison!

What do you think of the white nail polish trend?

  1. Try some pure coconut oil for your nails. 🙂 You can get it fairly cheap on Amazon. My nails are brittle and peel/break easily, but it really helped them.

  2. I’m really loving white nails at the moment! I always thought I had to be tanned to pull them off but since trying them at an event I’ve really fallen in love with them, such a versitle spring colour!
