Weight Loss Wednesdays: I’ve Hit My Goal Weight

Remember all those months ago when I used to write weekly Weight Loss Wednesday posts? I know I haven’t done one for a good while, but I felt today had to be an exception. That’s because, when I weighed myself this morning, I realised I was the exact weight I set out to be when I started my journey.

Now you’re probably thinking I don’t sound that excited – to be honest, I’m not. In fact, I didn’t even realise I’d reached any particular goal until Tiz pointed out that the number on the scales matched the one in my head. So why am I not running, dancing and skipping for joy? Because over the past year or so, I’ve realised that weight isn’t everything when it comes to health and fitness – it’s not even close!

Weight Scales Lose Pounds

When I started losing weight back in July 2012, I was eating more healthily and exercising moderately – I stepped everything up towards spring 2013 and I am now a fully fledged fitness fanatic! Whereas the first time I tried to do a FitnessBlender workout I couldn’t get past the warm up, I now do them daily without any problems and I’m training for my first half marathon. The point is that my numerical weight doesn’t mean that much to me any more, but if I can get through a gruelling workout with heavier weights or run further one day, that means a heck of a lot.

My priorities changed, to be frank. When I was technically near to overweight (I was balancing on the verge of the BMI scale) all I could think of was seeing the numbers decrease. Now, I’m not exactly sad to see them go down but I’d much rather make it through a new fitness challenge and see an actual difference. Sculpted arms and toned abs are my new goals.

So in short, this will be my final Weight Loss Wednesday post – but how about the odd Fitness Friday one? I can talk about my favourite workouts, health foods and motivational tips if you’d find it helpful?

    Congratulations on hitting your goal weight, but I agree that fitness is more important. Good luck with training for your half marathon.

    Congratulations my lovely. Similar to yourself, when I started working out was to lose the pesky few extra pounds I’d gained since a few months into my first permanent job. I’m now about 10lb lighter, about the same as when I was a student, but the numvers mean far less to me now than being toned and fit 🙂 also, if you’ve not tried it yet, Jillian Michaels yoga meltdown is really cool, I had my first go with it last night. Xx

    Congrats on your journey!! You’ve inspired me to get fit as well. I’m close to level two on Jillian micheals 30 day shred and it’s awesome 🙂 fitness Friday sounds great you have great tips!

    Congratulations! This really is amazing! 🙂
    And I’m also trying to lose a bit of weight (maybe more than a bit but ok :p) but I want to do it healthily as well, so by meanings of healthy eating and more fitness…
    But my problem is that my health not always allows me to exercise a lot or to eat full meals…
    I hope there is a way to find a balance, because I think I will feel better if I do. Not just because I lose weight, but also because I can manage my stomach problems and stuff.
    So Fitness Fridays is a great idea!!
    And good luck with the half a marathon concept!
