Review: OPI Nail Envy Dry & Brittle Nails Formula

I really am a bit silly sometimes. For example, I know that if you microwave a boiled egg to ‘finish it off’ when you take it out of the water too early, it will probably explode. Yet I’ve done it multiple times. A slightly less eggy (and more relevant) example is that of gel nail polish. In 2012 I had gel polish applied to my nails in time for Christmas, and peeled it off after a week or so leaving my nails ruined underneath. I had them done again last month. Guess how I removed them?

You get the gist. So here I am, nails in a disgraceful state. What do I do? Get on the OPI, of course! I’m a long-time fan of the OPI Nail Envy, but decided to purchase a different variation of it after mine ran out – the OPI Nail Envy Dry & Brittle Nails Formula!

Look at that, the bottle is shy. He turned away before I could photograph his logo’d face!

I always have high hopes for OPI products straight off the bat – they have rarely let me down and the quality is consistently good. Some may argue that for the price, it ought to be! This bottle of Nail Envy set me back £15, but I always think that you have to get the base right in order to make any other nail polish look good. So I gave it a go!

I actually applied the formula a good 4-5 days ago. I wanted to make sure I’d left enough time between trying it out and writing my review to work out whether this is just a good product, or an excellent product worth the money.

I’m happy to report that it has definitely done my nails some good! Since applying I haven’t had any major breakages or flaking, and my nails definitely look healthier than they did before. I know it’s difficult to explain this, but they almost feel moisturised in some way – as in they’re far less drier than after I’d removed the gel polish.

So I know they’re still not brilliant (can you see all of the gel polish damage underneath?!) but they’re getting there. And that’s exactly what I hoped for from this product! I plan to use it under every nail polish I use for the foreseeable future, and hope that it continues to work its magic.

I bought my OPI Nail Envy Dry & Brittle Nails Formula from BeautyBay, but it is available from all over the place. Search around for the best deal, you never know what you might find!
