Considering I like to blog about make up, I always seem to stumble across brands that I’ve simply never heard of – most of the time I’ve just been a bit slow on the uptake, but other times it’s because they’re from another country! That very thing happened with Emite Make Up. Emite is a Swedish brand that stock a range of gorgeous-looking products, and I was excited to try this one out!
It is the Emite Micronized Eyeshadow in Dams – I think it might have been included in a Glossybox, but don’t quote me on that. I found it hovering around my ‘To Review’ box and it caught my eye. Sure, on the surface is just looks like any old black eyeshadow, but when I started using it I discovered the opposite was true…
I love a good black eyeshadow – I usually use an angled eyeliner brush to apply it to the upper lash line in a thick, bold line, before tickling along the lower lash line. I prefer to do this with a shadow that isn’t full of glitter and sparkle (at least during the daytime) and thought that Dams would come in handy.
How right I was! Not only did it apply smoothly and give a strong colour payoff from the start, but it stayed put better than almost any black eyeshadow I’ve tried before. And believe me, I have tried many! When I came to take my make up off at night, the colour still looked bold and had hardly budged. A total winner!
I’m actually pretty chuffed to have found a single pan black shadow that I can carry around with me. Although I am a huge fan of palettes, they’re not so easy to pop in your handbag! This all sounds a little too good to be true, right? Well, there is a little bad news – it’s blooming pricey. The single eyeshadow retails for £19, which is fairly astronomical. As excellent as it is, I don’t think I could justify spending that unless I literally used it every day of my life… we’ll see!
Which is your go-to black eyeshadow?
