My Goals For 2014

First things first – a humungous, heartfelt Happy New Year to every single person reading this! I sincerely hope that 2014 is a brilliant year for you, you wonderful human being. Yes, you!

As some of you will remember from last year, I like to do a yearly ‘goals’ post come the 1st of January. I just had a look over my one for 2013, and I’m pleased to say that I have fulfilled (or at least worked towards) most of the goals on that list. OK, so I’m not a famous presenter yet, but I was under no illusions that that kind of thing happens overnight. Hand on heart, I could have probably put more time into that goal last year, but I actually ended up focussing on other goals that made me very happy.

One of those was the secret project I mentioned – yes, I spent most of the year doing it and it’s not quite finished! But hopefully it will be soon. I can categorically say I am fitter and healthier than this time last year, possibly more so than ever before in my life, and I have definitely tried to stay truer to myself. That’s 2013 rounded up – let’s move on to goals for 2014!

This is my one and only official ‘New Year’s Resolution’ every single year. I don’t like to make resolutions as such, as I believe that if you’re going to make a big change you’ll do it at the right time, but I think this is general enough to work as one. I had some brilliant times in 2013 – I moved in with Tiz, visited Paris for the first time, was nominated for a Cosmo Blog Award. But I feel that 2014 has even bigger and better things to offer. I’m excited!

Ok, I know I’m being so annoying about this, but I still can’t talk too much about it! As I’m writing this, I’ve been working on this project for 1 year and 3 months, and it’s almost finished. Almost. Please bear with me on this one – it has to be just right!

Conquer the fears that hold me back

Yes, that sounds a bit dramatic *cue thunderous music*. But on a serious note, there are a couple of things in my life that have restricted me in recent years, and I want to get rid of them for good. One of them is my relatively newly discovered fear of flying – I had never been scared of planes until one slightly turbulent flight that really shook me. I am planning a trip to a hypnotherapist to see what can be done, as I want to see the world without having to drink 6 cocktails before stepping on the plane!

Another is my irrational and limiting obsession with checking things. Plugs, switches, radiators, locks…the list goes on. It’s silly and incredibly frustrating. Again, I am looking into ways to get this sorted out – the sooner the better!

I’m also due to do a bungee jump early this year! It was a Christmas present from Tiz, and although I was terrified at first I’m actually looking forward to it. Do one thing every day that scares you, they say… quite!

This is actually a line I’ve borrowed from my hero, Jillian Michaels, and although I think it’s a great rule in general I’m applying it to health and fitness in this case. I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in, but I don’t ever want to be complacent. My goals have shifted from wanting to lose weight to wanting tone and definition, even muscles (when it comes to abs!). I’d love to run a 10K for the Race For Life this year, up from 5K last July, and myself and my friend Emily are looking into a mini Triathalon. Fitness, and healthy eating, are now huge parts of my life and I want to improve all the time.

All I have to say on this front is – more of it! I want to try and make the BEST videos I can, and post more frequently on my blog. If you guys have any requests or suggestions for videos/posts, please do let me know!

    You’ve inspired me to get into better shape. At one point in the summer, I lost 1.2 pounds in a week! I’ve been making healthier decisions, although I’ve fallen off the track in the last week or two. It was the holidays and I was getting/on my period. Meaning I ate non stop! Haha. Oh well. I recently went to the doctor and she said I lost 7 pounds in a year! Thank you for inspiring me! 🙂

    Hi Chyaz ! Love reading this, I think you are right we should try to accomplish goals rather than resolutions because it’s hard to complete all of them in just one year. I’m excited to hear what this secret project of yours is! I enjoy your videos especially your blogs because we get to learn more about you and that’s how I connect, because your are down to earth.
