Review: Vidal Sassoon Infra Radiance Curler

Ah, luscious curls. The one hair-related thing I’ve always dreamed of but rarely achieve. When your locks are as poker-straight and long as mine, hoping for anything more than a light wave to stay in your hair for any decent amount of time is pretty pointless. Nevertheless, I continue to strive for the perfect curls, especially at this time of year when you fancy looking a little special.

Just in time for the party season, I was sent the new Vidal Sassoon Infra Radiance Curler to try out. Christmas seemed like the ideal opportunity to give it a whirl!

I normally dislike curlers with a clamp as I worry it will cause a huge kink to plonk itself at the tips of my hair, but was won over by the infra radiance technology aspect – it is designed to keep your hair soft and smooth whilst maintaining its natural moisture balance. That means less frizz, dryness and hopefully damage!

I loved that it has variable heat settings, plus auto shut off – I literally worry about heated appliances being turned off 99% of the time I am awake, so this is a big plus! With having such long, thick hair, I always have to use the highest heat setting for any kind of styling tool, so I rotated the wheel to 7 and got curling!

I was impressed with this tool from the first curl. It was surprisingly easy to use the curler, and was actually made easier with the format of the barrel – the tong helped to keep things firmly in place, and left no frazzled ends. I used my regular hairspray (which I’m not actually loving at the moment) after each set of curls (around 3/4) to keep them in place. I posted an Instagram photo when I was halfway through!

What do you think? I absolutely adore the effect of the curls – they’re not too crispy looking (I hate it when that happens!) and I love how soft the curler kept my hair. If I could improve one thing about the product – which is the same with every curler, for me – I’d make it a little longer so I could attempt to curl more towards the roots. That’s just me, though – for most people, the size of it would be ideal. Also, as my hair is so heavy, the curls didn’t last forever but I think that may have been more to do with my hairspray. I must sort that one out!

The Vidal Sassoon Infra Radiance Curler retails for around £19.99, which is absolutely fantastic. I think this is one of the best value products I have reviewed all year, without a doubt. Highly recommended!

Stay Creative,

I’ve used their heat styling spray and would not recommend! It’s almost like a hairspray mixed with a heat protectant. The spray is sticky, like a hairspray. After use, the spray makes your hair feel gross. My hair felt crunchy and dry, like straw! Maybe that would be good while curling your hair? But not flat ironing!
