When I woke up the other day, I was all set to film and buzzing with ideas. Then I looked in the mirror. I don’t get spots very often, which I thank my thorough Simple skincare routine for, but I had a super red blemish on my cheek. Rather than putting off filming, I had an idea!
I haven’t done many ‘Back to Basics’ videos on my channel – when I first started YouTube all those years ago, I dived in at the deep end with tutorial after tutorial and didn’t actually talk about the basics. I thought it would be fun to show you guys how I cover up and conceal a spot, blemish or pimple!
My technique is actually super straightforward. I always use my Simple Spotless Skin Rapid Action Spot Zapper when I first notice a blemish, then save the make up for when I’m actually going out. I start with a green concealer – my favourite is by Natural Collection – to neutralise some of the redness. Then, I go in with my concealer of choice which is by bareMinerals.
The main things to remember are:
- Don’t over-conceal. It will be harder to blend once you apply the rest of your make up, and more noticeable if applied on top.
- Use a small concealer brush to make sure you’re being as precise as possible.
- If you’re using powder, try to be light with it – I find it can clog, which is something you should try to avoid.
There are so many ways of concealing a spot, and mine is just one – I’d love to hear yours!
