After my glowing review of the Lancome Hypnose Mascara and Eyeliner a week or so ago, I was super excited to review my third ever Lancome product – the L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick in Grenat Delicat!
I love a bold, stunning lipstick and was so excited when I first saw this one, kindly sent to me by Harrods. It’s a pinky red with a very subtle shimmer running through it, and I fell in love with it the minute I saw the shade!
How beautiful is the packaging? Down to the flower logo imprinted into the lipstick itself, it just screams luxury to me. This is one of those products that I got my hopes up extremely high for before I had even tried it out, and I hoped it didn’t backfire!
I wanted to apply the lipstick without lipliner so I was sure to get the truest colour payoff possible. I had thought that the flat tip would make it difficult to apply precisely, but I was totally wrong – it actually made it easier to get a perfect cupid’s bow shape and fill in the area at the bottom of the lower lip.
After a couple of coats to ensure that the colour was as bold as I could get it, here’s how the lipstick looked!
On first application, I felt that the formula was a little thick but as soon as a did the old tissue-dabbing trick the effect was gorgeous. When I am reviewing lip products, I usually take them off almost straight away afterwards but not this one – I feel far too glamorous right now!
This is the kind of lipstick that you’d want to pull out of your bag at a fancy cocktail bar. It’s what I think of as ‘power lipstick’, because it makes you feel a certain way. In this case, it makes me feel strong yet elegant, which is a particularly awesome combination in my book!
Have you tried out any of the Lancome lipsticks? Which did you love?
