Review: Lancome Hypnose Mascara & Kohl Eyeliner

Last week, the wonderful Harrods got in touch, asking whether I’d like to review some of the Lancome items they stock. I jumped at the chance, as I had never tried a single Lancome product in my life (shock horror!) and  was thrilled when I received my parcel in the post…

Two of the products that were sent were from the Lancome Hypnose range – the Hypnose Mascara and Mini Kohl Crayon. Black mascara and eyeliner are two of my ultimate make up staples, and couldn’t wait to put them to the test. Let’s take a look at the mascara first:

Lancome Hypnose Mascara

The packaging is effortlessly gorgeous, with the signature tube shape and classy positioning of logos. I love all-things-French, and I really get a Parisian vibe from the products – an instant plus for me!

I wasn’t too surprised to see that the brush was quite long and slender. To me, this mascara is all about getting a luxurious coating of product on the lashes, rather than adding the ‘insane/crazy/explosive’ length and volume that so many brands like to convince us of.

Here are my naked little lashes before using the mascara. I didn’t curl my lashes for this review, as I like to be all fair and square, but definitely would in the future (it’s an essential step of mine!)

And after a couple of coats of the mascara…

I love the simple elegance of the finished look. There is a good amount of added length and volume without going overboard, and there is just something luxurious about the feeling of applying a Lancome product. Does anyone else know what I mean?

Let’s move swiftly on to the eyeliner. Here is the miniature version, looking all cute:

On the other eye, I applied a slick of the Kohl Crayon onto my top lid, then lined the top and bottom waterlines. The pencil was smooth and once it got going the colour payoff was brilliant. The photo below was from the first ‘go’ over the waterlines – afterwards, I had another swoosh and it was beautifully bold:

Again – just so elegant. I was really impressed with the performance of the products, and genuinely look forward to using them again. If you’re looking for a high-end mascara and eyeliner duo, these are a brilliant bet – I’m so tempted to thrown on a pretty dress, buy a big pair of sunglasses and jet off on the next flight to Paris (don’t tempt me…I’ll do it!)

What do you think of the Lancome Hypnose products?

Stay Creative,

eyeliner looks really soft and elegant.. but can’t afford it on my teenage budget:D and also can you do another Hayley Williams make up look? From Still into You video. that’s a tricky one to figure out myself. with your new camera it’d be amazing! i love when you do hayley williams, because then you use bright colors which are not casual for you! xoxo
