I’ve been so excited to post this review, and I’m sure many of you will have heard me talking about this particular subject on Twitter! I’ve officially finished the Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 DVD, and today I’m going to share my results and review with you all.
If you’ve read my review of the 30 Day Shred, or have looked into Jillian’s preferred workout methods, you may be familiar with her 3-2-1 system. That’s 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of abs, performed in a circuit. Ripped in 30 is loyal to that system, and contains three circuits per workout. In a twist on the 30DS, there are actually 4 levels of Ripped, and you just KNOW Jillian is going to bring it!
I’m going to cut to the chase – I LOVED this workout DVD. As much as I loved the 30 Day Shred, by the end I no longer felt particularly challenged and was really ready for the next level. To say that Ripped in 30 delivered that is an epic understatement – Jillian literally reduced me to tears on one occasion, and I felt thoroughly broken to pieces and rebuilt as a stronger, fitter person.
I’m not going to go through each level and talk about the movements – there are blog posts that go into that in detail, but that’s not what this is about. What I will say though: Levels 1 and 2 were reasonably tough, comparable to Levels 2 and 3 of 30DS respectively. Then came Level 3…and my tears. Yes, the first time I did Level 3 tears of pain rained from my eyes during the second set of tricep dips. I quickly (wo)maned up though, and got better at the workout each day. Level 4 was insanely hard, but marginally easier than Level 3 in my mind.
Wanna see a quick snap of my ‘after’ body?
I was SO nervous about posting this photo on Instagram yesterday, and I’m even more nervous about posting it on my blog today! Eek!
I’m thrilled with the results, and am so incredibly glad I decided to buy Ripped in 30. Just a quick note about how long I stayed on each level: I decided to do 8 days per level, which adds up to a total of 32 days spent on the DVD. I also used 2kg hand weights for all of the levels.
So, the real moment of truth – how much did I lose overall?
- Waist: 0.5 inch
- Hips: 1 inch
- Thighs: 2 inches in total
- Chest: 0.5 inch
- Arms: 1 inch in total
Total Inch Loss: 5 inches
Total Weight Loss: 4lbs
I could not be more happy with those numbers! During Ripped in 30, I went on holiday to Paris, ate cake at my friend’s party and had a couple of tipsy nights out – but all in moderation. It just proves that by making smart food choices most of the time and working out hard, you can definitely achieve results.
Have you tried out Ripped in 30? What did you think of it?
