Review: Smashbox Halo Highlighting Wand

As a blogger, it’s always exciting to come across a product you’d forgotten about – especially when it’s one you were looking forward to trying out! When we moved to our flat a few months ago, various bits and pieces were thrown into boxes and temporarily misplaced. This little beauty was amongst the items I’ve recently rediscovered!

Smashbox Halo Highlighting Wand

It is the Smashbox Halo Highlighting Wand in Pearl – it was kindly given to me at a Smashbox event last year, and I’d been meaning to give it a try for ages. I do love a bit of highlighter, and am a huge Smashbox fan so my hopes were high!

As I’m super pale, very pink highlighters can look a bit odd on me – I always go for more neutral tones to compliment my complexion. I had no idea what to expect from the Halo Wand, but the colour of the tube gave my a positive first impression.

I have to admit, I am partial to a product with a built-in brush – providing that the brush is good quality and workable, of course! I was really glad to note that the Halo Wand brush was soft and smooth, perfect for applying highlighter along the cheekbones.

The tube has a button at the end which, surprise surprise, you press to transfer the product into the brush! I was very happy to note that it only took a few pumps to get the product flowing – I have used wands like this from other brands before where I’ve actually given up, concluding that there was no product in the tube to release!

I was thrilled to see that the highlight liquid was the exact colour I had hoped for – a very light bronze with plenty of shimmer. Just what I look for in a highlight! I gave it a good blend into the hand, and this is how the finished result turned out:

BEAUTIFUL! The shimmer is subtle enough to look natural but still provides enough of a ‘glow’ to do its job. It blended like an absolute dream, and wasn’t sticky or gooey. Just what I look for in a highlighter! I am incredibly impressed with this product, and will certainly be using it in my make up routine.

The Smashbox Halo Highlighting Wand is £25 and available from Boots.
