Wreck My Dress: Press Launch (22nd May 2013)

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to be invited to the press launch of the Wreck My Dress Experience. If you follow me on Twitter (@ChyazSamuel) you’ll certainly have seen me posting about it, so let me explain a little more…

Wreck My Dress

First things first – what is the Wreck My Dress Experience? It is essentially the chance for anyone to be a star for the day, entirely on your own terms. Set in Manchester, it is a luxurious, working TV and film location where the client will be pampered like a VIP before taking part in their own photo or video shoot. They then leave with a gorgeous piece of art work or video that encompasses a dream of theirs.

OK, so I know it sounds too good to be true – but let me assure you, this is the real deal. As I walked around the location, chatting to Liz Wallwork (Owner & Location Manager, and all-round lovely lady) I truly understood what Wreck My Dress was all about.

She told me an amazing story about how, after doing a bridal shoot, the bride had a crazy idea to jump into the pool you can see above. Et voilĂ  – the Wreck My Dress idea started to form! It is a photo/video experience like no other, and is one of the most creative environments I have ever been in.

Clients will get their hair and make up done by graduates of the Cassie Lomas Makeup Academy – Cassie herself is the Director of Hair & Make Up, as well as being an international celebrity make up artist (as I’m sure you all know!) The model above was getting ready to take part in a photoshoot so we could see the photo studio in action.

The photoshoot theme would eventually be ‘playing cards’, after some nifty editing – I’m so excited to check out the finished result! But not all of the shoots take place in the studio; whatever the client can imagine, the team try to bring to life.

I want to share a few photos with you that were on display at the location, and the stories I heard alongside each one!

The theme of this photo was to do with passion and heaven (I wish I could remember the exact wording of its title!). I thought it was stunning, even more so in person!

This is one of their beautiful wedding shots – absolutely amazing! However, the experiences don’t have to be wedding-centrered – it could be for a special birthday, specific project or something truly touching, as the photo below shows.

The beautiful lady in the middle is a cancer survivor, and was invited along to create this image with her sister and mum. The words they are destroying are ‘The Big C’ – this image gives me goosebumps! Wreck My Dress work with breast cancer charity Genesis, which is a fantastic organisation as I’m sure you’ll agree:

We were also treated to some screenings of videos Wreck My Dress have produced. Here is my ultimate favourite – I had to stop myself from having a little cry in the middle of the viewing!

And for the record – the dress really did go into space! No CGI, it really happened. See what I meant about dreams made into reality?

All-in-all, I think the Wreck My Dress Experience is an awesome idea and I know the company will do incredibly well. A huge thank you to all involved for letting us see what it’s all about!
