It has been SO long since I’ve done a review of a perfume or fragrance (to be fair, it’s been so long since I posted any kind of review!). Today’s post is all about a little gem I received in a Glossybox – the Yves Rocher So Elixir Purple Perfume.
Here ist the beautiful outer packaging of the sample bottle:
I adore the purple and black colour scheme, which fits perfectly with the updated name of the perfume – Purple!
The fragrance is described as ‘intoxicating and magnetic’, and includes a combination of Tuberose, Vetiver and Patchouli (nope, I don’t know what they are either!). It is designed to be a woody yet floral scent.
How cute is the bottle? It is a true miniature of the full sized one, and would look beautiful on any dressing table.
It is always hard to review a perfume as scent is such a personal thing. However, I would like to say that So Elixir Purple is simply beautiful – yes, it is woody and floral, but there is a definite sweetness to it that takes off any masculine edge. It is decidedly a perfume, not a cologne, and is totally feminine.
The full sized product is £44 for 50ml, which sits it towards the top end of the ‘middle market’ for perfumes. A little would go a long way, however, so that’s always something to bear in mind price-wise.
I actually didn’t think that I would love this fragrance anywhere near as much as I did. Here’s to surprises!
