The magnetic nail trend was never something I bought into – I always think I’m too bad at nail art to give anything a go, but my mind was changed last weekend. My beautiful friend Harriet kindly sent me some beauty goodies, including one of the 17 Magnetized Nail Polishes, in Lilac!
I adored the colour in the bottle instantly, it is right up my street! I adore deep purples, and even though it is described as Lilac there’s no pastel in sight!
I applied a base coat to begin with, although it didn’t mention one in the instructions. I then applied one coat of the polish and hovered the magnet over the top.
As nothing happened, I decided to let it dry and apply another coat. The magnet still didn’t want to take…I put it down to my dodgy technique and moved on to the next nail.
Hurrah! I finally got the knack of the magnet as I went on – I figured out that the best way to do it (and clearly how it was designed, I was just slow to catch on!) is to rest the lip of the magnet at the base of your nail, just on the skin, and hold the magnet over the top.
Here’s how the first hand turned out, complete with the failed thumb nail!
I was super excited as I got the hang of it, and by the time I’d finished my other hand I felt like the Queen of magnetic nails!
I was going to start the first hand again and make it look even, but I decided against it – I think this a good reminder of how you can quickly learn a technique instead of giving up!
I’m a huge fan of this product, and really want to try out the other shades. Thank you so much to Harriet for this wonderful gift!
