Those of you gorgeous people who have been reading my blog for a while may remember my first post about the OPI Mariah Carey collection. I speculated about it being full of glitter and bright colours – and I was totally right!
I picked up the miniatures collection from the Mariah Carey range a few days ago!
What I hadn’t banked on was a new nail technology being used – the Liquid Sand effect! I was instantly intrigued by this, as I adore matte finish polishes that dry quickly.
Now I’m going to be reviewing each polish separately as OPI varnishes are known to behave differently, even when they’re from the same line or collection. Today I picked one of my favourites from the new collection – the OPI Mariah Carey Polish in Can’t Let It Go.
It was actually super difficult to get a photo of this polish – in the picture above, it looks to be blue-toned when it is actually more of a purple or dark lilac shade. It certainly does have some small blue undertones, but purple is the overriding shade.
The instructions on how to use the Liquid Sands polishes are as follows: apply a base coat (I used the OPI Nail Envy, it’s my favourite!) then two coats of the polish. They advise not to use a top coat, which makes sense considering it has a matte finish!
Here’s Can’t Let It Go after one coat:
It actually looked fine to me! I did apply another coat though, purely for the colour intensity to really show up…
I’m going to say it…I think these are my favourite OPI nail polishes EVER! I adore the finish, they dry super quickly and barely chip at all. The effect is just so eye-catching and interesting, a real talking point (which is always fun when it comes to nails!)
The miniatures set cost me £12.95 which is perfect for me as I love to try out different shades before committing to buying a larger bottle. I really hope I end up loving the next three Mariah Carey shades as much as I adore Can’t Let It Go!
Have you tried any of the polishes from the new OPI collection? How did they work for you?
