Review: ELF Lengthening and Defining Mascara

I will be the first to admit this – I am a mascara snob. I have tried so, so many drugstore mascaras and have been disappointed almost every time. I now stick higher-end mascaras in a bid to ensure that my lashes always look as promised – full, thick and long.

So, naturally, when I came to try out ELF’s Lengthening and Defining Mascara, I was massively apprehensive. The mascara was originally part of a set sent to me by ELF, which I believe was the Smokey Eyes Kit. The entire kit reatils for £7.50, so broken down the mascara would probably be in the usual ELF price range of £1.50.

I hadn’t really thought about using the mascara, as I am well and truly set in my ways. But, I decided to give it a go to see if it lived up to its ‘lengthening’ and ‘defining’ claims.

As soon as I started to apply the mascara, I was amazed – it looked good! No, scratch that…it looked amazing. For the price, it wholeheartedly delivers, and my lashes look like I’m wearing a product five times the price. The application was easy, the colour is bold, my lashes are holding the curl given by the brush and they look super long.

The above photos were taken after around 3 coats of the mascara. This might seem like a lot, but for the price it really doesn’t matter. The mascara also dried very quickly, which is a big plus for me as I hate it when mascara transfers to the upper lid, or under the eye. I’ve got my fingers crossed that my lashes will still look as fabulous in a few hours!

I simply cannot live without mascara! This one seems very good. I love how your lashes look on the pics and I can really see that the product leaves very amazing results. I’m gonna see if I can buy it in the U.S

oh i’ve been thinking about trying it, so now i maybe will! Much cheaper than other mascaras and if you have to put 3-4 coats when the price is so low, it dosen’t matter!
    Thanx for the review!

My favourite mascara is a really cheap, plain black one from ASDA. I think it cost me about £1.50. It lasts forever (I’ve had one tube for about 3 years now), it rarely clumps, it stays on, the colour is gorgeous and it makes my eyelashes really long and dark 🙂 I’d recommend it to anyone. But it’s nice to see that it isn’t the only awesome yet cheap mascara out there!
