Don’t worry, you didn’t misread the title – this is another Butter London review! As I mentioned on my blog earlier in the week, I bought an amazing Butter London set from TK Maxx which contained the Fiddlesticks Nail Polish and Lipgloss. Today, I’m going to be reviewing the Butter London Lipgloss in Fiddlesticks!
As you can see, the product is actually described as a Lippy – I think this is slightly misleading, as in the UK ‘lippie’ or ‘lippy’ is slang for lipSTICK rather than lipGLOSS. But that’s just a very small point!
The shade in the tube is very similar to the nail polish – a thick sparkly pink full of glitter and shine!
Here’s a closer look:
I didn’t expect the lipgloss to look as striking on the lips as it does in the tube – for a gloss, that would be almost impossible! It could perhaps work with a pink lipstick underneath, but I decided to try it out on bare lips for my review.
Here is the Fiddlesticks after a couple of coats:
Ok, so it is a bit underwhelming. Considering how amazing the gloss looks in the tube, the effect on the lips is disappointing. Only a small amount of glitter has transferred, although there is a nice pink shade on the lips from the product.
I was really hoping that it would look a bit more striking than this. There are a few good points to the product though – it smells divine, which is always a bonus for a lip product, and it isn’t too sticky either. I also hate lipglosses with a ‘plumping’ effect, and this steers away from any of those gimmicks which is refreshing.
I have to say that I wouldn’t recommend this product as a glitter gloss, but if you’re after a nice pink shade it is lovely.
