Most Underrated and Overrated Beauty Products

Blogging can be a very one-sided activity, so talking to and interacting with you guys is something I really love and appreciate! I thought I would do a blog post today where we can have a bit of a chat in the comments.

I have two questions for you – not only will it be fun to read your responses, but we all might learn something! So, what are the questions?

1. Which beauty product do you think is the most underrated, and why?

2. Which beauty product would you avoid at all costs having tried it out and hating it?

As bloggers, our job is to review products for you, but we also love to get your feedback!

As for me, there are a few products I could mention for each answer. For example, I made a ‘Products I Regret Buying’ video on my YouTube channel:

But, as I like to be super positive, I also do frequent ‘Favourites’ videos – here’s my latest one!

Obviously, please bear in mind that everyone will have different opinions on which are the best and worst beauty products. It’s all about sharing and hopefully learning something!

So please feel free to join in the beauty conversation below! I look forward to reading your responses 🙂

Stay Creative,

A product i regret buying is Maybelline color show nail polish no matter how much i shake it up it still stays watery. when i tried to apply it, it just ran everywhere and made a mess i ended up having to remove it.

How strange! I’ve never tried them but will steer clear, thanks for sharing! xo

Macs studio whatevertheblinkitis liquid foundation. I tried 3 different shades instore and one looked perfect on me. Got it home and it just made me look orange and greasy 🙁 First mac product I ever purchased and haven’t been back since.

I think one of the most underrated products I’ve tried is the Beauty Crush single baked eyeshadow from Victorias Secret. I purchased a bronze color and wow! Used dry its a subtle shimmer, but wet it’s amazing! It’s almost a foiled look, and goes on so well! I wasn’t expecting the result since I’ve had issues with other baked shadows just not showing up

I think there are a whole bunch of beauty products that are underrated & they are the staples that have been around for a LONG time. For example, Eight Hour Cream, Dramatically Different moisturiser, Chanel No 5, Ponds, rosewater and glycerine toner from the chemist. These products sell in their millions, but you don’t often see them mentioned. I think we are always chasing novelty in the beauty community (most gurus seem to only use the latest in-thing) and we forget that a product that has sold for 40 years probably has something going for it.

The beauty products I won’t buy again are the novelty nail varnishes. I bought the crackle top coat when it came it as it looked cool in the advert, but I felt it looked a bit silly on. I don’t think I have seen anyone really pull off the crackle top coats or the caviar one without looking a bit tacky. Apologies to anyone who likes them!

I totally agree about us chasing the novelties, and unfortunately I do fall for them sometimes. Thanks so much for your comment, very thought-provoking! xo

Probably the most under rated would be Sinful Colors nail polish, and I have honestly never tried a make up I didn’t like 🙂

That’s great to hear! I hope it stays that way 🙂 xo

One of the underrated products I’ve bought would probably be a Miss Beauty Matte lipstick in shade 02. It was supposed to be my very first matte lipstick. I bought then when I tried it at home, it applied horribly >.< I don't think I'll be going for their matte lipsticks for a while. XD
