I firmly believe in using make up to enhance rather than cover up – that’s why I absolutely love products like highlighters. They help to draw the light to the parts of your face where the light would naturally hit, but boosts the effect of this. The result is a gorgeous glow, and who wouldn’t want that?
I was thrilled to receive this product in the post from bareMinerals – it is the Well-Rested Face and Eye Brightener.
The highlighter – or brightener, as it is called – comes in a tube and brush format. The end of the tube twists to release the product into the brush, and although it takes a few turns to get going it delivers a great amount of product once it does. There’s nothing worse than a tube that dispenses too much product at once, but this seems to get it just right.
Something I really like about this product is that the product itself is quite transparent, and a pearl shade – the highlighter I’m currently using is quite pink, and can sometimes just look like I’ve accidentally smudged my foundation off. When using this on the cheekbones, it creates a sheer glow – just what I want from a highlighter!
As you can see from the swatch, the product melts into the skin – something I cannot stand is when a liquid product (whether it be a primer, blush or highlighter) becomes grainy when worked into the skin. There is no trace of that here, which is always a bonus!
I took a photo of myself after having worn the brightener – it’s not the best photo in the world, but I hope you can notice the areas where I applied it (in this case: my cheekbones, bridge of my nose, cupid’s bow and under my eyes)
But I haven’t even mentioned my ultimate favourite use for the brightener yet! I was thinking about its name, the Well-Rested brightener, and immediately thought of the under-eye area. I decided to give it a go, over my concealer…and I loved it! It really made a huge difference, and couldn’t imagine not using it in the future.
The product retails for £22, which is obviously quite pricey but I honestly think it does a great job. I’ve already started to think of it as an essential in my make up routine, so it has my seal of approval!
Do you use any products from the bareMinerals range? I’d love your recommendations!
