Review: Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Black Platinum

Any of you beauty lovers who subscribe to the Glossybox will have found this little treat in their box this month…as a disclaimer, Glossybox kindly send me the box but all of my reviews are – as always – 100% honest!

The treat in question is the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Black Platinum – a full-sized bottle of the new nail polish range. I’m a lover of black polish in any form so couldn’t wait to try it out!

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Black Platinum review

It is a pearlescent, petrol black shade – it is unlike any other black polishes I own, which is always a bonus! I immediately adored the rubber ring around the brush handle for extra stability when painting the nails, and the brush itself is nice and sturdy.

The polish claims to be a 5-in-1 product, containing a base coat, strengthener, growth treatment, colour and top coat, but I couldn’t resist adding my own base coat first. The idea of stained nails is NOT a good one!

After one coat, I was feeling a bit unsure about the polish – it seemed very watery and patchy:

I really hate giving products bad reviews, so I was hoping and hoping that the nail polish would improve with each coat. After the second, things looked a little better but still super patchy.

Luckily, the third coat was the charm!

Although I love and adore the finished product, the time it took to reach it was just too long for me as an every day nail polish. I would absolutely take the time to apply this for a special night out, when I had a while to get ready, but generally it is just too time-consuming.

I think it is a good polish for the price of £6.99 though, as it does contain the five different elements. I also think it’s quite impressive on Glossybox’s part to receive a full-sized polish in the box – always my favourite samples!

Have you tested any of the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure nail varnishes? How did you find them?

Stay Creative,

oh no! i loved the 5in1 range, i use the Red Zin (blood red colour) and don’t have an problem with staining afterwards, so maybe try it without the base coat i wonder if that might work better?

loving the new site, very chic!
