After reading a blog post by the LOVELY Brittany from brittanylovex, I practically ran out of my house this morning to buy the latest issue of Glamour magazine. Why? Because, once again, the free gift with this month’s issue is a Benefit product. Not just any Benefit product, but one that I have been lusting over for a good few months – the Benefit High Beam. (Note: just in case that doesn’t float your boat, the other two free gift options were Benefit’s Bene Tint or Benefit’s Posie Tint)
I almost squeaked with excitement when I saw that there was one copy of Glamour left, and the gift happened to be the High Beam. It was actually pretty much a miracle that no one in town had sneakily ripped open the cellophane and stolen the gift yet, which happens frequently where I live. After my excitement, and time spent gawping at how AMAZING Adele looks on the cover, I drove home ready to try out my little present.
I had actually tried High Beam once before – when in Leeds, a lovely (and very enthusiastic) Benefit make up girl gave me one of their magic makeovers (it was the first decent one I’d had at a Benefit counter – they usually manage to turn me several shades darker than my natural skintone). She used a few dots of High Beam on my cheekbones and a little bit on my temples (if I remember correctly). It really did look lovely, and I was SO tempted to buy it, but couldn’t justify the price in relation to how much I’d use it. That’s why it was perfect that it happened to be free with Glamour!
You can see from the swatch just how much the product glistens – I wouldn’t say that it is glittery as such, more…shimmery and (as the packaging says) luminescent. I dotted some onto my cheekbones, as the Benefit make up artist did, and I was really pleased with the results once again. The packaging does recommend that you use it over make up, but as I rarely wear foundation, I probably wouldn’t stick to that rule. In all honesty, I will probably only use this once in a blue moon, but it’s great to know that I own a gorgeous highlighter which really does work and looks great.
The further good news is that not only the High Beam but the Bene Tint and Posie Tint are now available to buy from Benefit in their miniature forms – according to Glamour, Bene Tint and Posie Tint are £10 each, and High Beam is £8. Alternatively, if you live in the UK, grab a copy of Glamour!
