After two weeks of my healthy diet and exercise regime, I am really starting to feel like it it becoming my lifestyle rather than just a phase. I quite honestly have never felt healthier; the more I exercise, the easier it is becoming and I love feeling strong and fit.
After losing 4 lbs last week, I knew that it probably wouldn’t be as much as that that I lost this week, but I gave it my best shot!
One of the most interesting developments of the week is the realisation that one ‘cheat’ meal a week can really boost you. Scientifically, it has a lot to do with ‘tricking’ your metabolism into thinking that it still has a higher number of calories to burn off, but psychologically it has helped to keep me on track. Last Wednesday, me and my sister visited my dad in Wales and, of course, we had to have fish and chips at the seaside! I actually found that I couldn’t finish my portion, which was surprising but not a complete shock; I’m used to eating normal portions now, instead of larger ones.
I’ve been fairly consistent with things like breakfast – these babies are my favourite choice!
I find that they fill me up until lunch time (most of the time) and you can jazz them up by sprinkling some berries or dried fruit over them. I’m a huge fan!
Meals-wise, the last week has been a little frantic so my meals haven’t been the most regular – I think I need to work on meal planning so that I don’t fall into the trap of constantly eating on the go. It can’t be good for you!
Snacks-wise (as you guys know I love my snacks!) I try to include as much fruit as I can, but everyone needs a little something more now and again. I adore these little crackers, and they’re only 133 calories per bag!
I’ve also found that replacing your usual snacks with a healthier version can sometimes backfire…in the evening, Tiz and I like to snack on bread sticks – not the healthiest choice, but that was mostly pre-diet! I found these in Waitrose and thought I’d give them a try:
Unfortunately, they are completely disgusting! They taste of nothingness and actually make me feel a bit sick (if that combination is possible). I’ve found that it’s much easier to just allow myself a limited number of normal breadsticks instead of more of these, it’s worth the sacrifice!
As I mentioned before, my week has been a little frantic, so I’ve only managed to get to the gym twice – such a shame! I factored this in when I weighed myself this morning and knew that this was an exercise-light week.
When I have been to the gym, I’ve been pushing myself that little bit harder; a little faster on the treadmill, and trying 5 extra minutes on a new machine. I’ve also been taking the opportunity to make the most of little 10 minute breaks at home – at the weekend, Tiz and I were watching TV and I just got up and did 50 squats (they BURN!). It’s all about making the most of opportunities.
I’m off to the gym this morning and I’m really going to get back into it. I have started to enjoy it so much, and want to keep it up!
Now for the moment of truth…
Weekly weight loss: 2 lbs ** Total weight loss: 6 lbs
Yay! I knew that I would have lost a little less this week but I am still chuffed, and the numbers are heading in the right direction. I always wanted to do this in a healthy way and I think I an, so I’m happy. Almost at the 1/2 a stone mark!
