It does seem slightly strange that I am going to be reviewing the ELF Small Make Up Brush Holder…after all, isn’t it just a pot? Funnily enough, when I was about to buy the brush holder (which arrived this morning, by the way) I really wished that I had a review of it beforehand. This was mainly to get a bit of extra information about the practicalities – how many brushes can you fit in it? How big is it in real terms? Does it have any hidden features? So, guess what? It’s your lucky day (if you happen to be after this exact product…likelihood?) I will be reviewing it for just those things!
As soon as the product arrived, I couldn’t wait to introduce my brushes to their new home. My first impressions were slightly mixed, as although the holder seemed the perfect size, when I got it out of the box the surfaces seemed marked and slightly damaged. After a few rubs, the marks came away, which makes me think it is the hard rubber-like finish of the holder which makes it prone to marks. This was only a small point; I was much more impressed with the size than annoyed about the presentation.
I really like the fact that the logo on the holder says ‘eyes lips face’ rather than ELF – I was also pleased that it looks quite discreet, and wasn’t in a bold white font. I currently have around 10 eyeshadow brushes and 1 blusher brush in the holder, which takes up less than 1/4 of the space so far. There really is room for many, many brushes, even if they are thicker face brushes, like stippling or blusher brushes. I also love the height – it is tall enough so that the brushes are sturdy in the holder, but not too tall so that it is getting close to covering the bristles in any way. It is also very sturdy in itself – the material feels very durable, and for £5 that is not a bad deal.
To give you a little more idea of scale, I took a photo of the Small Make Up Brush Holder next to another item. And what else could it be from me, but a teacup…
This is the exact thing I wanted to know before I bought the holder, and luckily it turned out to be the perfect size. I hope that this helps if you’re looking to buy the product yourself! In terms of hidden features…sadly there are none, but on the other hand, what would it really benefit from? I think it is a good, study, strong, all-round good product.
I bought the Small Make Up Brush Holder from the ELF website: http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk/product~prodID~172.htm It retails for £5.
