When shatter nail polish recently came back around, I was SO excited – the possibility of creating nail art with little-to-no talent really appealed to me as I am notoriously clumsy with nail matters. Beauty UK are one of my current favourite brands, so when it was announced that they were releasing their own line of Shatter Polishes, I couldn’t wait to try them out. I was slightly worried that the colours would be a bit predictable, but I was happy to find that there were a few ‘out of the ordinary’ shades. The range includes a shocking pink (Punk), a strong black (Goth) and a gorgeous silver (Glam Rock). The minute they were released on the website, I ordered Punk and Glam Rock, and they arrived this morning!
I wasn’t expecting the pink shade, Punk, to be quite so vibrant, but I was more than happy when it was. The silver, Glam Rock, was just as gorgeous as I expected, and I couldn’t wait to try them out! I first applied two coats of black polish to my nails, and waited a little while to make sure they were fully dry before applying the Beauty UK Shatter Polishes. I decided to do alternate nails with the two colours – let’s start with the left hand for the Punk review.
The thumb nail worked nicely, and I was happy with the overall crackling effect – it is particularly effective with the black underneath. The middle finger didn’t work so well, and I figured that that is to do with the unpredictable nature of the pattern – sometimes it just looks a little odd. The little finger again worked really well, and I was happy with the overall effect. In terms of application, the combination of the brush shape and product consistency means a dream-like application. Unlike some other similar products, the fluidity of the product is apparent, and it glides on to the nail. It also dries quickly, which is a bonus!
Now on to my right hand, where the majority of the nails are painted with the silver shade, Glam Rock.
Hand on heart, this is my new favourite nail polish in the world. The colour is as vibrant as in the bottle; the application is perfect, and the end result rocks – just look at that middle nail! The little finger proved a little problematic, but I think I just need to tune in to this particular formulation a little more to figure out the perfect thickness to apply the product to end up with perfect cracking. The finish of the colour is stunning, and I am so excited to try it out on top of different colours.
The Beauty UK Shatter Polishes are £2.99 each, and are available from the Beauty UK website. I hope this review has been helpful!
