Beauty UK are a company which I have really taken to this year – not only are their products VERY affordable, they quality of them is also great and the customer service is fantastic – everyone I have talked to from the company is sweet, friendly and so helpful. I had spotted on their website that they were to launch a new range of Baked Eyeshadows, and I was excited when they kindly sent me a couple of the products. Firstly, No. 4, which is Beach, and No. 6, which is Sunrise. They retail a t£3.99 each.
Beach, which is the more neutral of the two baked eyeshadows, contains a gorgeous golden brown colour, a deep brown and a copper shade.
This is perfect for creating a bronzed, copper eye look, and (perhaps coincidentally?) it contains the perfect shades to use on different parts of the eye, e.g. the gold shade for highlighting. I love the texture – there’s no chalky-ness about the product, and the slight rough feel of it somehow adds to the colours themselves. In terms of pigmentation, the middle dark brown and the outer copper colour are the most vibrant, and whilst the gold is less pigmented, it makes it perfect to use as a highlight.
I also love, love, love the packaging – high end look, drugstore price. In terms of the price, I think that is is accurate – by that, I mean that any less would be a steal and any more would be disproportionate. Great all-round!
At first, I thought the colour combination was slightly odd, with a very light pink, a bold pink and then a brown, but I soon came to love the shades of Sunrise once I had tried them out.
I’m always on the look out for a good pink shade, as when I’m creating dramatic looks on my YouTube channel, pink is a colour that always seems to come up but I never really have the appropriate shade. The two pinks here are good; the baby pink is quite shimmery and probably not something you could use all over the lid, and the brighter pink is great, but it does require a few swipes to get the full impact of its pigmentation going. The brown is just fab, and I can imagine creating a great look using just this one palette!
So, if you’re willing to work with them to build a great pigmentation (which they are very capable of doing), these baked eyeshadows are great, and get my approval!
