Foundation Routine: Night Out!

As many of you will know, I don’t like to wear foundation very often at all – I spend so long on my skincare routine that I don’t want to simply cover up my hard work! I do, however, like to wear a little foundation on a night out. I posted a YouTube video yesterday outlining my foundation routine, which involves the base, contouring and highlighting!

I only really use three products in the video:

  • Illamasaqua Skin Base Foundation in Shade 3
  • Sleek Face Contour and Highlight Kit
  • Benefit High Beam Highlighter

If you’d rather read than watch the above video, here is a quick run-through of how I apply my make up for a night out!

  1. I always do my eyes first. This is to prevent fallout from the eyeshadows ruining my foundation (it has happened all too often and is very frustrating!)
  2. Apply a moisturiser all over your face and neck – I like to the use Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser
  3. Take a brush – I use the MAC 130 – and stipple the Illamasqua Skin Base over your face and blend. Also blend it down to your neck for a more even finish.
  4. Take an angled brush – I love the Cosmopolitan Blush Brush – and your contour powder. Make a fish face (try to look in the mirror without laughing!) and contour just below your cheekbones.
  5. Grab your highlighter, dot it along your cheekbones (at the highest point you’d like the light to be drawn to) and blend it away with your ring finger.
  6. Finish off with your chosen lip product!

It really is that easy – contouring and highlighting will make a huge difference to your finished look. I’d really recommend it!

What does your foundation routine consist of? How often do you like to wear it?

Stay Creative,

I’m not using foundation because I have no idea which one I should take and don’t think it’s that necessary 🙂 But after seeing this video of you, I’m considering of maybe trying it out anyway, do you have any recommendations for pale skin with a lot of freckles? 😉 🙂 And by the way, can you get those Cosmopolitan makeup brushes in London? Thanks for your reply in advance ^_^

    1. I’ll apply my nivea moisturiser or GOSH face primer

    2. I’ll apply COLLECTION 2000 lasting perfection concealer

    3. Then, I’ll mix Max Factor Lasting Performance (creamy ivory) and Rimmel 25 hour (Ivory) to get a shade that matches my skin.

    4. Babra Daily Blush (nude) /or/ 17 blush and glow (peaches and cream) /or/ Beauty UK baked blush (royal rose)

    5. Then set with COLLECTION 2000 Sheer loose powder

    6. Apply my peach lipgloss and get ready to go ^^

    My foundation routine
    1. Clinique moisturizer
    2. CoverGirl foundation (in Ivory) all over my face.
    3. CoverGirl concealer (in Neutralizer), if it’s needed.
    4. ELF bronzer (in Sun Kissed) to contour my cheeks, nose, and define my jawline.
    5. Revlon pressed (in Translucent)

I’d also like to try one of the ELF Shimmering Facial Lip some time. Have you ever tried them? If so, are they any good?

Then a small amount of the 17 BB Blemish Balm cream
Set it with the MUA pressed powder, some lipbalm and some eyeliner and mascara! 🙂 x
