Review: Revlon Facets of Fuchsia Nail Polish

Before I even saw this product, I knew that I would be obsessed with it simply from the name – I’m talking about the Revlon Facets of Fuchsia Nail Polish. Fuchsia is just me, and if it sparkles then all the better! I was super happy when I actually saw the nail polish in question – it looked as gorgeous as I’d hoped!

Revlon Facets of Fuchsia Nail Polish Bottle

It is essentially a black nail polish with specks of fuchsia glitter running all the way through it. It might be because I’ve been using super glittery polishes lately, but I wasn’t overwhelmed with the amount of glitter it contained; however, I thought it might be nice to have a more subtle shimmer for a change.

After one coat of the polish I begun to panic – had this purchase been a complete waste of money? The colour looked sheer and watery and there wasn’t a speck of fuchsia in sight! Thankfully, matters improved after the second coat. I apologise for the quality of the photo, but this is how the nails turned out:

So, what is my verdict? Well…I like it, but I don’t love it.  Perhaps I’ve been spoiled with all of the OPI polishes I’ve been trying lately, but this product was underwhelming. I think I’d become a little too excited at the prospect of quick-and-easy pink and black nails, but in reality there is much more black than pink. Granted, it does make for a more subtle shimmery alternative to my crazy glitter polishes, but I wouldn’t repurchase.

The polish cost £6.49 from Superdrug – a mid-range price in my opinion. I will absolutely use this polish again (mostly to get my money’s worth!) but I think the price is a little steep considering it isn’t wonderful.

Have you used this polish? What did you think?

I didn’t try this one but I’ve tried 2 other Revlon ones and I’ve been really dissapointed ! The colours looked amazing in the bottle but I needed from 3 to 5 coats for it to be opaque and bright. I think it’s a waste of money and I will never purchase a Revlon polish again !

Yeah, I have this polish and had exactly the same experience. Maybe it’s that the black overwhelms the glitter? Also I found it reaaaally hard to get the glitter off my nails (that’s the biggest put off for me). It’s such a shame, because as a student in a spenny town, £6.49 is a lot for me to spend on a nail polish.

On the other hand, I love Revlon in general. Their Black Cherry lipstick is lush, and I do believe that they don’t test on animals.

Btw, if you have the time to take a quick (and fun!) make-up tutorial request, I’m going to a party as Columbia from Rocky Horror on Friday… 😉

I bought this exact same nail polish today and I think maybe you got a bad one because I’ve just applied it and I thinks it’s amazing and I got loads of pink sparkle all over my nails!x

I had the same problem with Risqué Color Effect Viúva Negra (black widow), it looks really gorgeous but when I painted my nails it was just a black polish with some red glitter that could barely be seen =/ But it’s still pretty, maybe you can use a coat of a transparent glittery polish over it or maybe OPI Rainbow conection or OPI Nail Polish in I Lily Love You that you got recently I’m sure it will look gorgeous! (:
