Ok, so I know that this seems a little strange for a beauty blog…but I have used the Smiffy’s Make Up FX Face Paints in a couple of my most recent videos and I thought it would be cool to review them! I would also like to add that the recent videos have been Halloween make up tutorials…I don’t paint my face on a daily basis! Haha!
I bought 3 face paints for the purpose of doing my Pumpkin Halloween tutorial as well as dressing up as a dalmatian for my friend’s 21st! They were just £2.99 each, which is amazing considering how large the pans are! Naturally, you need to use more product than you would for, say, a daily foundation routine, but given how little you will use them the value is great.
The paints are aqua-based, so I had a basin of water on stand-by and used a sponge to apply the paints. I have to be honest – the coverage you get isn’t amazing. I found that if I applied one coat, let it dry, then applied another, it worked best. However, when using the white face paint, I found that applying some white pressed powder over the top improved the overall effect.
Here is a photo of me after I’d used the orange and black paints to turn myself into a pumpkin:
And here is me after using the white and black paints to be a dalmatian!
So, as you can see, the orange face paint made for a better base than the white. Still, for the price, I think they are a good purchase for non-professional purposes.
I like the fact that they are described as ‘Aqua Based Body & Face Paints’ – they work well on other body parts (like the neck) and last very well throughout the night. Myself and my friend used the white paint to cover our faces and necks and only just touched the bottom of the pan.
Have you used the Smiffy’s Make Up FX Face Paint? Are there any others you would recommend?
