Review: John Frieda Sheer Blonde Lightening Spray

The product I’m going to be reviewing today is one that has been out for a few months now – I have been trying it out and really putting it to the test for a little while and feel prepared to give it a thorough review. The product is the John Frieda Sheer Blonde Controlled Lightening Spray.

I have my hair highlighted, on average, about every 3/4 months – this generally keeps it looking fresh, but I obviously have to have my roots done which always spruces the general look up. Over the weeks between colours, my hair does tend to get a little dull and look slightly darker. That is why I was so excited to try this spray!

The spray claims to show results in 3-5 uses. I have used it about 5 times now, which I feel gives me a pretty good impression of how well it works. It also claims to create a natural-looking blonde colour; however, you can strictly only use it on hair which is already blonde (so for me, not on my light brown roots).

I’m going to cut to the chase – this product is amazing. I will never, ever truly rave about a product unless it deserves it, and this certainly does. I last had my hair coloured way over a month ago, and whilst I’ve been using this spray my hair looks brighter and blonder than ever, without looking yellow or brassy in any way.

The product really won me over when, on two separate occasions, my best friend and my sister asked me if I’d just had my hair done. In reality, I’d had it done weeks beforehand!

I use the spray on damp hair, just after I’ve washed it. I separate my blonde, highlighted hair from the darker hair underneath and spray the blonde from root to tip (I will aim to avoid my roots once they start to show through more). It works with heat, so I blow dry my hair afterwards and it looks great as soon as I’ve done.

Another fantastic thing about the product is the price; I bought it for just £6.99 from Boots. I think it is worth every penny if it can keep a salon ‘do looking fresh and new for this long!

I would thoroughly recommend this product to any fellow blondies out there. Fabulous!

Stay Creative,

Chyaz xox

I’ve been using this since it came out as I got it on a 2 for £7 offer (bargain!)and I have lost count of how many people have asked if I’ve had my hair done. I’m naturally a strawberry blonde and don’t have any highlights, it has lightened it in such a lovely even and natural looking way, I just have lots of lovely tones running through my hair from it – I would definitely recommend it! x

I sometimes wish I could go blonde. Never had the complexion for it, probably never will. My friend has been thinking about lightening her hair slightly, I’ll recommend this product to her.

If her hair is already blonde, it will work 🙂 but it’s not recommended for brown or dark hair (I’m too scared to find out why!!) hehe x
